AirPods 5 vs AirPods Pro 3: Is the Pro Worth $100 More? - Memeburn

For most iPhone owners the better buy is the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case at $149, because it brings noise cancellation, IP57 durability and Apple’s newest software features to an open-fit earbud for $100 less than the AirPods Pro 3. The AirPods Pro 3 at $249 still win on noise cancellation, battery life, bass and health features, and the gap matters less than it looks once the Pro 3 is discounted, since Memeburn’s calculation shows the Pro 3 become the cheaper source of noise-cancelled listening time at any price below about $238. The choice comes down to whether you can wear silicone ear tips comfortably and how far below $249 the AirPods Pro 3 are selling on the day you buy. Kane and Olise were potent up front as well. That’s all, folks. Thanks a bunch for staying with us. The big one is up next: a home match against Arsenal. Bayern did beat them 1-0 before but that was under much different circumstances. Can the Bavarians win it? Maybe, but we’ll have to find out in a few days. Speak to you all in a bit.90+4’ — Full time!90+3’ — Urbig saves twice to deny Leipzig.90+2’ — Goal. Bayern somehow lets one in.90’ — Boey shoots weakly at Vandevoordt. Three minutes of stoppage time added on.86’ — Brajan Gruda fires wide. It’s not Leipzig’s night.82’ — Seiwald’s shot is a weak one, straight at Urbig again.78’ — Leipzig register their first shot on target in the entire match. Urbig saved it easily.77’ — Sacha Boey replaces Kim Min-jae.75’ — Olise and Gnabry miss sitters one after another.69’ — TOR!

Maple Leafs centre John Tavares out week-to-week with lower-body injury - CP24

SportsPublished: October 17, 2026 at 2:34p.m. EDTMaple Leafs centre John Tavares (91) lies on the ice after an awkward collision with Buffalo Sabres counterpart Josh Norris (9) in Toronto on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Nathan Denette The Maple Leafs will have to get used to life minus another key piece. The club announced Saturday before facing the New York Islanders that John Tavares is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. Toronto added that the timeline designation means the veteran centre could miss up to six weeks. Tavares has two goals and five assists in seven games this season. The 36-year-old was involved in an awkward collision with Buffalo Sabres opposite Josh Norris in Thursday’s 5-4 overtime loss at Scotiabank Arena. Norris was bumped by Maple Leafs forward Nick Paul in the defensive zone before sliding into Tavares, who crumpled to the ice and stayed down before being helped to the locker room. Toronto was already dealing with the loss of veteran shutdown defenceman Chris Tanev. The 36-year-old remains out week-to-week with an upper-body injury suffered in last Saturday’s 6-3 road victory over the Colorado Avalanche.

A Black Hole 12,000 Light-Years Away Is Firing a Plasma Jet Toward Earth - Gadget Review

Milky Way’s first microblazar candidate sits 12,000 light-years away, offering a rare ground-level lab for studying relativistic jetsA black hole 12,000 light-years away is firing a jet of plasma almost directly toward Earth. At that distance, no known or expected danger to Earth has been identified by the researchers or the institutions involved. What astronomers have actually found is rarer and more interesting than a threat. Researchers have identified IRAS 18293-0941 as a compelling candidate for the Milky Way’s first microblazar, a class of object that gives astrophysicists a close-up laboratory for studying some of the most violent physics in the galaxy. What Astronomers FoundThe discovery centers on a binary system whose black hole expels plasma jets at close to three-quarters the speed of light, pointed almost directly toward Earth. The system pairs a hot, massive star with a black hole that completes a full orbit roughly every 11.38 days. Material drawn from the companion star feeds the black hole, and some of that matter gets expelled outward as opposing jets traveling at approximately three-quarters the speed of light. Terminology matters here.

Red Wings waive defenceman Bernard-Docker - TSN

Published: October 17, 2026 at 2:22p.m. EDTThe Detroit Red Wings have placed defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker on waivers, according to Postmedia’s Bruce Garrioch. The 26-year-old battled an upper-body injury and was activated from injured reserve last week. He has yet to play a game at the NHL level this season. Bernard-Docker had one goal and five points in 63 games with Detroit last season while averaging 14:49 of ice time per game. A native of Banff, Alta., Bernard-Docker was selected No. 26 overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Ottawa Senators. He spent parts of five seasons in the nation’s capital before joining the Buffalo Sabres via trade in March of 2025. Bernard-Docker then signed as a free agent with the Red Wings later that summer. He is currently on a two-year deal that runs through 2027-28 and pays him $1.6 million annually. He has seven goals and 29 points in 207 career NHL regular season games spread out over six seasons.

Drowned 5,000-year-old forests off Mozambique now shelter reef fish, no coral needed - Yahoo

Forests that stood on Mozambique's coast thousands of years ago now lie beneath shallow seas, and they have become fish-filled "peat reefs" with marine life comparable to coral reefs, researchers report in Scientific Reports. A team from the Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies (BCSS) Ocean Observatory, led by Mario Lebrato, documented the submerged peat in the Bazaruto Archipelago in the Western Indian Ocean. BCSS, founded in 2017, describes itself as Africa's first permanent ocean observatory. Working with universities and institutions in the U. K., U. S. and Canada, the team believes it has carried out the first ecological study of peat reefs anywhere in the tropics. Old forests, new seafloorRadiocarbon dating shows the peat formed between about 300 and 5,000 years ago, and chemical analysis indicates it came mostly from coastal land plants and trees. Some samples contain up to 40% organic carbon by dry weight. Lebrato said the coastline has very little natural hard seabed, mostly shifting sand. As rising seas expose the old peat layers, they create rare solid habitat where marine life can settle, hide and feed.

Red Wings Place Jacob Bernard-Docker On Waivers - Pro Hockey Rumors

The Red Wings have been carrying nine defensemen through the early going this season, something that’s largely unsustainable.  They’ve taken a step toward reducing that surplus as Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports (Twitter link) that blueliner Jacob Bernard-Docker has been placed on waivers. The 26-year-old joined Detroit in the 2025 offseason, inking a one-year, $875K contract in the hopes that a fresh start could eventually give him a more permanent place in the lineup.  Last year, that was largely the case.  Bernard-Docker played in 63 games (compared to just 40 the year before between two different teams) and while he only put up five points offensively, he logged nearly 15 minutes per game of ice time while chipping in with 87 blocked shots and 66 hits.  That performance was good enough for the Red Wings to sign him to a new two-year, $3.2MM deal back in March.
