A Change in Your Voice Could Foreshadow Cognitive Decline, Major Study Finds - ScienceAlert

Catching signs of dementia early – before the main symptoms have started to show – means a bigger window of opportunity to study the progression of the condition, and to put support in place for those affected. Past studies have looked at eye scans and blood tests as ways of doing this, for instance. Now new research suggests that worsening voice quality could also flag a higher chance of developing dementia in the years ahead. The discovery comes from a team at the Drexel University College of Medicine in the US, who have published their findings in the Journal of Voice. Across a total of 833,417 participants aged 50 and older, the researchers charted the relationship between getting a diagnosis of a voice disorder, hearing loss, or both, and the likelihood of developing cognitive impairment or dementia (including Alzheimer's), starting from a year after the voice and hearing assessments. "We found the strongest link with dementia among patients experiencing a voice disorder and hearing loss," says Robert Sataloff, a professor and chair in Drexel's College of Medicine.

After Carving Up Red Sox, Yankees Ace Cam Schlittler Eyes Becoming 'Legend' - FOX Sports

Boston Red Sox fans have a middle name for Bucky Dent and Aaron Boone that begins with the letter "f," and New York Yankees ace Cam Schlittler is on the verge of being given that same middle name by the New England faithful. Schlittler mowed down the Red Sox in Game 1 of the Yankees' American League Wild Card Series showdown against their AL East rival on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium, as New York trounced Boston, 9-0. And, for Schlittler, this is just the beginning. "The job's not done. We got to get another win tomorrow, but it's very well known that if you want to be a legend, which is obviously the goal, you got to do it in the postseason," Schlittler said in his postgame press conference. "Go out there and have dominant starts and put the team in a position to win. That's kind of the most important thing. "I thought a lot of guys today did a great job of that, and we're definitely headed in the right direction. "Schlittler recorded 10 strikeouts and surrendered just three baserunners (two hits and one walk) over 6 ⅓ shutout innings; he threw 117 pitches.

Tubeless: Where Does the Technology Really Stand? - 3bikes.fr

Long considered difficult to install, high-maintenance, and sometimes disappointing on the road, tubeless tires have come a long way in recent years. Wider tires, lower pressures, compatible rims, more effective sealants, and improved compatibility standards have changed our perspective on this technology. Here’s a look at what has actually improved in 2026—and what still warrants attention. By Guillaume Judas – Photos: depositphotos.com, ©Etienne Schoeman, ©3bikes.frTubeless tires are no longer a novelty in the world of road cycling. The first systems appeared nearly twenty years ago, but their adoption has been particularly slow. I first tested this technology in 2008 with Hutchinson, but I wasn’t 100% convinced—far from it. For a long time, tubeless even gave the impression of being a promising technology, but not necessarily mature enough to win everyone over. Installation that’s sometimes complicated, unreliable sealing, sealant that dries out, punctures that are hard to repair, and tires that are difficult to remove: there were plenty of reasons to stick with tubulars or inner tubes. Even among professionals, the transition to tubeless has been gradual.

The Red Sox need Roman Anthony vs. the Yankees, but a nagging hand injury has likely ended his season - CBS Sports

Anthony, who exited Game 1 early on Tuesday night, was removed from Boston's roster on Wednesday NEW YORK -- There was no sighting of Roman Anthony late Tuesday night. Inside the clubhouse, his locker sat vacant. His Red Sox teammates sat nearby, too, coping with the aftermath of a 9-0 drubbing by the Yankees in Game 1 of this best-of-three AL Wild Card Series. Anthony's vacancy in the clubhouse mirrored his absence on the field. In the top of the sixth inning on Tuesday, the Red Sox's prized 22-year-old was removed from the game with the same hand and finger injury that cost him 101 games this season. On Wednesday, the Red Sox removed him from their Wild Card Series roster and replaced him with Curtis Mead. Anthony's season is over unless the Red Sox can make it to the ALCS and Anthony can get healthy. "The hand," Boston manager Chad Tracy said about Anthony in a low tone after the loss. "He took a check swing and then another swing and his hand flared on him. And it got uncomfortable, so we had to make a move there. "The hand. Anthony's right hand has bugged him all season in a diluted second year in the majors. Boston didn't expect Anthony to miss much time.

Fantasy football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em WR in Week 4: Don't panic on Malik Nabers despite recent struggles - CBS Sports

Malik Nabers gets a favorable matchup to turn things around, while Josh Downs and Michael Wilson headline the Week 4 starts Fantasy managers are worried about Malik Nabers after two bad games, which is understandable since Jaxson Dart (knee) is out for the season. But let's relax heading into Week 4 against Arizona. Nabers is still worth starting in the majority of leagues. He looked fine in Week 1 with Dart against Dallas, with six catches for 69 yards on nine targets. It was an awful game in Week 2 at the Rams with one catch for 1 yard on four targets, but Dart was injured in that game, along with Nabers dealing with a shoulder injury. In Week 3, Nabers had five catches for 26 yards on six targets in his first start with Jameis Winston against Tennessee, but that game was played in poor weather. And here we are. I'm hopeful this game against the Cardinals turns into a track meet, and we get the full Winston experience of over-targeting his No. 1 receiver. That would be great for Nabers.
