I’m the CEO of United Airlines and the least stressed person you've ever met. Here's my daily routine. - Business Insider

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Scott Kirby, the 59-year-old CEO of United Airlines, who is based in Dallas. The following has been edited for length and clarity. I went to the Air Force Academy, but I realized I couldn't be a fighter pilot because I had an inner-ear issue that kept me from flying level with my eyes closed. Instead, I worked at the Pentagon and earned my graduate degree in operations research. I wanted to do something in math, but I didn't want to live in a big city — I'm a country boy — so I moved back to Texas and joined a technology subsidiary of American Airlines. I later moved to America West, beginning a career that eventually took me to American Airlines. I came to United as president almost 10 years ago and became CEO in 2020. It's been a fun ride. United is headquartered in Chicago, but I wanted to stay in Texas, where we've always lived, and my kids go to school. I joke that the industry is never boring — occasionally I wish for boring — but it's always stimulating. Here's a day in my life.5 a.m. — wake up without an alarmI sleep eight and a half hours and wake up between 5 and 5:30 a.m. I don't set an alarm.

What’s going on with boys in sports? - American Institute for Boys and Men | AIBM

Sports can give boys a place to have fun, make friends, get better at something, and build relationships with adults who care about them. In 2023, one in four U. S. eighth- and tenth-grade boys reported often feeling lonely, amid a broader rise in time spent alone. At their best, sports give boys a place to build belonging, competence, and recognition through teammates and trusted coaches. Those experiences matter during childhood. They can also support boys’ health, connection to school, and preparation for happy and productive adult lives. Growing concern about boys’ mental health, social connection, and engagement in school, along with signs of declining participation in sports, led the American Institute for Boys and Men and the Aspen Institute to examine boys’ experiences in sports. Drawing on a national youth survey, focus groups with boys who play, quit, or never played, and interviews with sports leaders, the report asks a broader question: Are the opportunities available to boys giving them what they want and need from sports?

Universe Entertainment And Culture Group (SEHK:1046) Stock Confronts Revenue Collapse And Rich P S Multiple - Simply Wall Street

The market has been treating Universe Entertainment and Culture Group like a high‑beta punt, with the stock almost doubling over the past month. However, today’s full year release tells a tougher story. The business delivered only HK$120.096 million in trailing twelve month revenue while still posting a loss of HK$10.938 million from ongoing operations. Set that against a P/S ratio of 10.1x, well above the Hong Kong entertainment pack, and the headline is clear: rich sales multiples now meet persistent red ink, and that gap is what traders are reacting to. Is Universe Entertainment and Culture Group now a mispriced turnaround story, or just an expensive loss maker trading on hope? See what the numbers imply by running the stock through the full valuation analysis for Universe Entertainment and Culture Group. FY 2026 Earnings Summary Revenue (FY 2026 vs. FY 2025): HK$120.096 million vs. HK$696.152 million (revenue declined 82.7%) Net Income/Loss (FY 2026 vs. FY 2025): loss of HK$10.938 million vs. loss of HK$51.985 million (loss narrowed 79.0%) Basic EPS (FY 2026 vs. FY 2025): loss per share of HK$0.0121 vs.

Soft economy should limit Bank of Canada's rate hikes: Capital Economics - BNN Bloomberg

The Bank of Canada holds its benchmark rate at 2.25% as trade talks with the U. S. remain stalled and tensions mount. Abigail Bimman has more. Trade uncertainty and slowing immigration levels could restrict how high the Bank of Canada’s benchmark interest rate goes next year, according to a new report published by Capital Economics on Wednesday. The report argues that the risks plaguing Canada’s growth prospects will likely rein in inflationary pressures — limiting the degree of monetary policy tightening needed to keep prices in check. The Bank of Canada has held its benchmark interest rate at 2.25 per cent since last October as it gauges how the U. S. trade dispute and war in Iran are affecting its outlook. Latest economic news on BNNBloomberg.caThe central bank will issue updated forecasts for the economy and inflation at its next interest rate decision on Oct. 28. Financial markets have increasingly shifted to favour rate hikes sooner than later as high oil prices stoke fears of persistent inflation.

End Of An Era? Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo Makes Stunning Decision - FOX Sports

Cristiano Ronaldo has walked out of Portugal’s training camp on Wednesday, hours after coach Jorge Jesus said the star forward would not start the game against Denmark in the Nations League on Thursday. Ronaldo said that "in time" he would "tell the Portuguese people the truth about the reasons" behind his departure. "Following the national team coach’s news conference, and after a conversation with the president of the Portuguese football federation, I decided to leave the national team’s training camp," he said on Instagram, adding that he has always "dedicated" himself to the side. Jesus had said in the pre-game news conference he was not planning to start Ronaldo, but dismissed the notion there was a feud between the pair. Jesus said every player knows the coach makes the decisions, and that Ronaldo told him he would abide with whatever choices he makes. The coach added the "rules are the same for everyone" and that Gonçalo Ramos would start up front against Denmark if everything went to plan. "I don’t know what’s going to happen in the game," Jesus said. "If we need him (Ronaldo) to play (at some point), he’ll play. If not, he won’t.

World’s Largest Electric Plane Takes Flight - NewsForKids.net

Plattsburgh, New York —(Map) On August 12, a 30-seat airplane weighing 25,000 pounds (11,340 kilograms) took off from an airport in New York state. That may sound fairly ordinary, but there was something that made this plane unusual: it was the world’s largest electric plane. The X1 is an airplane built by a company called Heart Aerospace to test its plans for battery-powered flight. The plane is 106 feet (32 meters) from wingtip to wingtip, and 76 feet (23 meters) long. It weighs about as much as a city bus, and it may help point to the future of air travel.
