CFB Wainwright: Poilievre offers condolences, praises "immense courage" | FULL

Description

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre spoke to reporters in Wainwright, Alta. on Sunday, following the deadly explosion and fire at CFB Wainwright. The Canadian Armed Forces confirmed four fatalities and dozens of injuries after a fire broke out in the base’s training area Saturday afternoon. Strong winds helped spread the flames beyond the training area as military and civilian emergency crews responded. Poilievre praised emergency response efforts, saying, "There are acts of courage that are almost unimaginable. People who ran towards rather than away from the danger and are now paying a cruel price fighting for their lives in hospitals. We offer our thanks to our troops for their service, their sacrifice and their immense courage." The full extent of the impact remains under assessment as authorities work to support those affected and their families.
