Joint Alert Identifies Integrity Technology Group as China-Linked Attack Enabler - FindArticles

U. S. and allied cybersecurity agencies have publicly identified China-based Integrity Technology Group as an alleged enabler of cyber activity that has reached government agencies, critical manufacturing, healthcare, information technology and other organizations around the world. The unusually detailed joint alert names the company, describes tools and infrastructure tied to the activity, and asks organizations to hunt for compromise and strengthen exposed systems. The October 8 advisory, led by the FBI, CISA and the NSA with partners in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and Spain, says its findings draw on technical evidence recovered during multiple FBI investigations. Its importance lies less in a new malware name than in the picture it builds of an operation combining automated scanning and credential attacks with more patient, hands-on access to steal sensitive data. FROM THE CEO: Sixty-five years of journalism have provided a civic function that technology alone cannot replicate - St. Albert Gazette

Great West Media CEO Duff Jamison warns that while technology evolves, it cannot replicate the essential civic function provided by 65 years of local journalism. The following is an edited version of remarks given by Duff Jamison, the president and CEO of Great West Media and longtime former publisher of the St. Albert Gazette, to the Arts and Heritage Foundation of St. Albert at the Musée Heritage Museum during their exhibit "First Drafts of History: the history of newspapers in St. Albert" in May 2026. The first edition of the Gazette was published June 17, 1961. It was the community’s first local paper in many years. A few regional news sources were available, mostly dedicated to Edmonton news: the Edmonton Journal, five radio stations, and only one TV station. Moving forward from 1961, the news landscape looks a lot different. Today, all Canadian newspapers — daily and weekly combined — generate about $1.2 billion annually. Roughly $700 million comes from advertising, $500 million from subscriptions. That revenue supports fewer than 11,000 employees nationwide. In 1965, newspapers captured about 55 per cent of all advertising dollars in Canada.
