Google’s new Fitbit Edge tracker launches later this month and, as we get our review together, here’s a quick hands-on look at the new middle child of Google’s wearable lineup.
The Fitbit Edge sits in between the screen-less Fitbit Air and the pricey & premium Pixel Watch 5. It’s the same slot that Google last addressed with the Fitbit Charge 6 back in 2023, but it does bring some changes this time around that make it even more of a “Pixel Watch Lite” than the Charge 6 already was.

The global buildout of artificial intelligence infrastructure is reshaping trade flows and the freight networks that support them. Its physical footprint extends beyond chips to the equipment and materials needed to develop data centres. BNN Bloomberg spoke with Matthew Martin, senior U. S. economist at Oxford Economics, about the firm’s report mapping AI-related trade and what cross-border shipments can reveal about the investment cycle. How to set BNN Bloomberg as your preferred source on GoogleKey TakeawaysU. S. AI-related imports are up 60 per cent year over year, compared with about eight per cent for other imports, Martin said. Strong demand is sustaining AI-related trade despite tariffs and higher freight costs, although prolonged trade fragmentation could slow productivity growth. Asia anchors the upstream supply chain, with Taiwan specializing in chip manufacturing and China supplying a broader range of equipment and infrastructure. The U. S.

Small businesses have more technology available to them than ever before. Digital payments, AI, and automation can make some jobs easier, but they also come with new costs and risks.
Updated: Oct 14, 2026 6:20pm UTCIf you could use a smaller Xbox controller for any reason, Microsoft has announced just the thing for you. It’s called the Xbox Nano Controller, and it’s a more compact, more rectangular take on the standard Xbox controller. All the regular Xbox buttons are accounted for, but the form factor is smaller and more portable. It’s a nice-looking device overall, and it’s available to preorder now from a number of retailers (see it at Amazon). It will release on November 4 for $49.99. But I’m a grown man with large hands, and I almost never have to bring my Xbox controllers anywhere. If your hands are smaller, or if you travel with a controller on the regular, you might want something designed just for you. That’s the Nano controller. It’s just over five inches long and weighs a mere 3.5 ounces. Microsoft says it supports “all 18 standard gameplay inputs,” which sounds like a lot.
Published: October 14, 2026 at 2:11p.m. EDTESKASONI — The Eskasoni First Nation is launching a joint venture with a Nova Scotia clean technology startup that says it can use an element in sea water to make rocket and jet fuel. The First Nation in Cape Breton is joining with synthetic fuel company Aeon Blue to create eFuels Mi’kmaq Ltd., which they say is the first clean fuel company majority owned by a Mi’kmaq First Nation in Canada. Chief Leroy Denny said in a recent interview that the partnership will create around 80 jobs, as well as training opportunities for community members in areas such as engineering, operations and management. “We believe that economic development and environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand,” said Denny. “We’ve talked to several First Nations and they’re interested to be partners and invest in it as well … This is about, for us, ownership, opportunity and long-term benefits for our community.”Aeon CEO Lark Meadow said in an interview that the technology can sound like science fiction at first, but it uses a century-old technology called saltwater electrochemistry to split hydrogen from sea water or brine.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says the AI industry shouldn’t tolerate any cybersecurity incidents caused by the technology, putting him at odds with OpenAI’s Sam Altman, who has recently said that some hacks and scams may be a necessary tradeoff for AI’s benefits.
“I’m willing to accept no incidents of cybersecurity. We should not accept any of them,” he told Fortune in an interview in London. “We should do everything we can to avoid them.”
A major software advance could aid the creation of bigger, more reliable quantum computers, a study suggests. Researchers have developed an algorithm that enables off-the-shelf computers to run quantum simulations previously only possible using the world's most powerful supercomputers. It means the simulations can be run using around 5% of the computing power previously needed to perform them with a supercomputer, the team says. The advance could make it cheaper and easier to run experiments vital for understanding the limitations of current quantum computers and informing the design of improved devices, experts say. Updated: Oct 14, 2026 5:54pm UTCXbox controllers are already the default option for a whole range of devices, from the Xbox itself to gaming PCs and tablets. But Microsoft has just announced the Nano Controller, a smaller and cheaper Xbox controller. The Xbox Nano controller is essentially just a smaller Xbox Series X controller, and while Microsoft's blog doesn't share exact measurements, it is "about 5 inches" long and weighs 3.5 ounces, which is much smaller and lighter than the existing Xbox controller. The Nano Controller is also more affordable, coming in at $49.99, rather than the $69.99 that Microsoft typically charges for a controller. It's available to preorder now. But while the Nano controller will be compatible with Xbox consoles, the focus here is on other devices like smart TVs, laptops, and any other device that, until recently, Microsoft would have claimed to be an Xbox. To that end, Microsoft is teaming up with Samsung to bundle the new Xbox Nano controller, along with two months of Game Pass with "select Samsung TVs" over the holiday season.
Dell Technologies Inc. DELL stock fell more than 11% on Wednesday after a Barclays downgrade, even as CEO Michael Dell highlighted strong demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure and growing enterprise adoption. Barclays analyst Tim Long downgraded the stock from Overweight to Equal-Weight and lowered his price forecast to $574 from $603. Long cited Dell’s stretched valuation and said broader enterprise technology spending has yet to see a significant boost from AI adoption. Despite Wednesday’s selloff, Dell shares have gained more than 300% in 2026, supported by strong AI server orders and a growing enterprise backlog. However, Michael Dell struck an optimistic tone in a Wednesday CNBC interview, suggesting that the AI infrastructure boom still has years of growth ahead. Dell Sees AI Demand Outpacing Supply Through 2030Dell told CNBC that demand for AI infrastructure continues to exceed supply, a trend he expects to persist through 2030. He acknowledged that long-term forecasts remain uncertain. However, he pointed to the time required to expand semiconductor manufacturing capacity.
