Super Bowl stock report for NFL Week 5: Jaguars enter peak form, Eagles trend toward rebuild - CBS Sports

We assess the NFL title race after Week 4 and identify three upcoming games that could reshape the Super Bowl picture The NFL International Series rolls on in Week 5 with the second of three games in London, and it marks the first of two consecutive contests in England for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Liam Coen's team returns to its "home away from home" across the Atlantic Ocean for a matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles: A contest between two teams trending in opposite directions. If the Eagles are to save their season and return to Super Bowl contention after back-to-back losses, this is an ideal spot to prove they can beat one of the best teams in the league. If the Jaguars handle their business as favorites, they will extend their winning streak to three games and improve to above .500 all-time in games held in London. That is not the only impactful showdown on the road to the Super Bowl this week. In fact, even more seismic collisions occur on the West Coast with an NFC West battle between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks and a meeting between the two Super Bowl favorites in the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills.

NFL Week 5 Picks From the MMQB Staff: Seahawks Could Take Division Lead With Win Over 49ers - Sports Illustrated

It’s Week 5! Our writers and editors successfully rebounded from a rough Week 3 by all finishing .500 or better on our picks in Week 4. We will look to continue that momentum as we pick all 15 games—the Panthers and Chiefs are on their byes—in Week 5. For the second consecutive week, the Sunday slate kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET with a London game, this time featuring the Eagles and Jaguars. The Eagles are in transition after trading Cam Jurgens and seeing Lane Johnson retire while the Jaguars look like one of the NFL’s best teams so far. This is reflected in our predictions, as our whole panel has picked the Jaguars to win. Later in the early slate, the Packers will look to hold off Ben Johnson and the Bears while the Raiders will try to keep their surprising start going against the Patriots. This week really heats up in the late afternoon on Sunday, when the 49ers head to Seattle for a key divisional matchup between these two NFC West rivals. The Seahawks went 2–1 vs. the 49ers last year, but our experts are split on who will get the win this time around.

The Way This Yankees Season Ended Was All Too Familar - FOX Sports

NEW YORK — Aaron Judge stood on the top step of the Yankees dugout. He hunched over the navy blue railing with his arms crossed, his hoodie pulled up over his fitted cap, and he watched the Tampa Bay Rays celebrate on his home field. He stood in silence and stared, deep in thought. Judge, who was absent from the postseason roster with a strained right calf, was one of the last two players to leave the dugout after the Yankees were swept in the ALDS by their division rival to end their season. After Judge, Yankees rookie shortstop George Lombard Jr. was the final player to leave the dugout. What was going through the Yankee captain’s mind as he watched Tampa Bay rejoice? "I was just hating every single moment of it," Judge told me after the Yankees’ 4-3 season-ending loss to the Rays on Wednesday. "Thinking about the whole year. Thinking about missed opportunities in the season, in that series. Things we could’ve improved on, things I could’ve improved on. Just hating every single moment of it so I don’t forget. "What’s the point of remembering?(Photo by Caleb Bowlin/Getty Images) This was the third consecutive year the Yankees saw the better team win and advance.

Frankfurt Book Fair 2026: Sports Romance Still Has Game - Publishers Weekly

The growing popularity of sports romance, driven by the adaptations Heated Rivalry, Off Campus, and Finding Her Edge, is undeniable. Hockey offers the danger of glittering blades and rugged, masculine heroes who also happen to be emotionally intelligent; Formula 1 offers the glitz and glamour of settings like Monte Carlo and the tension of adrenaline-fueled races. There have also been hugely popular romances set in the worlds of soccer, the NFL, rugby, tennis, even lacrosse. Although the tennis novel Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid wasn’t a traditional romance, it hit some of the same notes: a character driven by ambition, tackling rivalry, success, and, of course, love. Alice Moloney, commissioning editor at Harper Fire, recently signed three romances by Victoria Taylor about a university rugby team. “Sports romance lets us play with these traditionally ultramasculine characters,” Moloney says, “and keep that physicality and competitiveness but broaden them into rounded, emotionally intelligent leading men too.”At Bookouture, associate publisher Lucy Frederick edits the Oakwood Ranch series by Bella North, which follows three brothers who play for the NFL.
