Celtics' Hugo Gonzalez: Strong performance Saturday - CBS Sports

Gonzalez logged 17 points (6-7 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds and two assists over 21 minutes during Saturday's 144-106 preseason win over Philadelphia. Gonzalez played the entire fourth quarter and knocked down three triples in the frame to end the game as the Celtics' third-leading scorer behind Payton Pritchard (25 points) and Jayson Tatum (23 points). Gonzalez is one of the players that the Celtics hope can grow into a larger role after the team traded Jaylen Brown to the Sixers in exchange for Paul George. Gonzalez showed flashes of potential during his rookie year, but it's unclear how consistent his playing time will be in 2026-27, given the presence of Sam Hauser, Baylor Scheierman, Ron Harper (shoulder) and Jordan Walsh. Maple Leafs' Gavin McKenna: Three-game streak sets team mark - CBS Sports

McKenna picked up a power-play assist Saturday in a 6-3 win over Colorado. The pass drew high praise from the recipient, who buried it behind Mackenzie Blackwood. "Unbelievable pass on that first goal," William Nylander said post-game. "He did a great job, and he's so talented, and he can make those plays all over the ice. " McKenna became the first Maple Leafs player age 18 or younger to record a point in three straight games (one goal, three assists) since Russ Courtnall had 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in seven games from March 3-14, 1984. Celtics' Paul George: Elite defensively in Celtics debut - CBS Sports

George registered 13 points (3-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, four assists and five steals over 25 minutes during the Celtics' 144-106 preseason win over the 76ers on Saturday. George didn't have the most efficient night offensively, but he demonstrated his defensive chops during Saturday's win, with four of his game-high five steals taking place in the first half. The veteran forward was the Celtics' return for Jaylen Brown in the offseason, and it'll be interesting to see how George and Jayson Tatum fit together early on in the 2026-27 season. George figures to have his preseason reps limited before the Celtics' regular-season opener against the Pistons on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Celtics' Paul George: Sitting out preseason finale

Commanders vs. Giants Prediction, Odds, Pick For NFL Week 5 - FOX Sports

FOX Sports Research The Washington Commanders will host the New York Giants on Sunday in a Week 5 NFL showdown on FOX. The Giants enter Week 5 atop the NFC East, while the Commanders are looking to climb out of last place. New York improved to 3-1 after scoring 36 points last week, with Jameis Winston throwing three touchdown passes and Malik Nabers delivering his first 100-yard receiving game of the season. The Giants now look to end a four-game losing streak against Washington. The Commanders fell to 1-3 after a 30-13 loss to Indianapolis in London, but help could be on the way. Dolphins vs. Bengals Prediction, Odds, Pick For NFL Week 5 - FOX Sports

FOX Sports Research The Miami Dolphins will host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday in a Week 5 NFL showdown on FOX. Both teams enter Week 5 looking to end losing streaks. Cincinnati has dropped two straight after a 2-0 start, falling 22-17 to Jacksonville last week despite Joe Burrow’s 428 passing yards. The Bengals also lost Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to injuries, leaving questions about their top two receivers entering this matchup. Miami, meanwhile, is 0-4 for the first time since 2019 and ranks last in scoring at just 11.5 points per game. The schedule hasn’t helped: Its first four opponents have a combined .938 winning percentage, tied for the highest through four games in NFL history. Can the Dolphins finally break through, or will the Bengals get back in the win column? Let’s take a look at the odds for Dolphins vs. Bengals at FanDuel Sportsbook as of Oct. 9. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. Moments in NFL History: ‘Prime Time’ attempts historic sports double play - Pro Football Hall of Fame

Specialization has become a hot-button topic inside youth sports circles. Should kids play one sport, focusing and honing specific skills? Or should they play multiple sports throughout the year, building an overall foundation and a wider range of abilities? Whatever side of the chalk line you fall on, no reservation can be put on the historic feat that was attempted on this date (Oct. 11) in 1992.

Yuki Kawamura: Cut loose by Clippers - CBS Sports

Kawamura was waived by the Clippers on Monday. Competing on an Exhibit 10 contract, Kawamura tallied 10 points in Saturday's preseason loss to the Raptors but will ultimately fall short of earning an Opening Night roster spot. The guard is now a likely candidate to see action with the G League's San Diego Clippers. Clippers' Yuki Kawamura: Provides spark off bench
