Report: Kings interested in Hellebuyck - theScore

The Los Angeles Kings are among the teams that have reached out to the Winnipeg Jets about goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, reports Sportsnet's Frank Seravalli. The Kings were reportedly told that Hellebuyck would accept a trade to Los Angeles. L. A. is 0-3-2 in part because of poor goaltending. Darcy Kuemper owns an .847 save percentage in four games, while Anton Forsberg has posted an .853 save percentage in two appearances. Kuemper and Forsberg are both pending unrestricted free agents. Hellebuyck went public with his trade request in August and was suspended by the Jets in September for failing to report to training camp. He remains absent from the team. The 33-year-old is signed through 2030-31 and his contract carries an $8.5-million average annual value. His deal features a full no-movement clause this season before becoming a 10-team trade list on July 1, 2027. Hellebuyck won the Hart Trophy and his third career Vezina Trophy in 2024-25 when he posted a 47-12-3 record, a .925 save percentage, a 2.00 goals-against average, and eight shutouts while leading Winnipeg to the Presidents' Trophy.

5 things to watch in the Oilers home and home against the Mammoth - Oilers Nation

With UFC Fight Night scheduled for Saturday night at Rogers Place, the series will start in Edmonton on Thursday before sending the Oilers out for a one-game road trip to Utah for the rematch. Even without UFC, the trip’s logistics don’t make much sense. The Mammoth played at home to Toronto earlier this week, and the Oilers flew past Utah on the way home from Los Angeles. Nonetheless, the Oilers will probably get a couple of nights of sleep in their own beds after the first extended road trip of the season. The Oilers went 2-0-1 and outscored Utah 16-11 across their three regular season meetings last season. The Mammoth are off to a hot start this season, leading a stacked Central Division at the time of writing. Fans can look forward to some high-quality, exciting hockey to end their week and start their weekend. Who comes out of the lineup if Zach Hyman returns? Oilers fans got some promising news earlier this week, with Zach Hyman’s return seeming imminent. He wasn’t ready after morning skate in LA, but Oilers coach Mike Babcock said he’s day-to-day, which has fans hoping to see Hyman in the two games vs. Utah.

Pre-Scout: Top guns, depth cast, and a Mammoth test for red-hot Edmonton Oilers - Oilers Nation

If this start to the Edmonton Oilers season were a Tom Cruise movie, it would be Top Gun. Sitting first in the NHL in points percentage and winning five in a row, the Oilers’ top guns have had the need — the need for speed. It’s fresh and doesn’t feel like a sequel, as a familiar cast has avoided their October Groundhog Day, the movie Oilers fans have watched this team play like déjà vu. One has to think the extended off-season break has helped the leaders in Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Evan Bouchard, and Mattias Ekholm begin so strongly, but their combined attention to detail defensively is noticeable to the naked eye. The known quantities pulling off the performances of a lifetime. Box office draws delivering. But the overall style in which Edmonton is winning these games, except for Vancouver, which I’m willing to chalk up as pre-season extended hockey, is decidedly uncinematic. Yes, the Oilers’ top line is dominating, but it’s not always pretty when they’re off the ice. The cast listed in minuscule font on the poster are trading standout performances and are giving Oilers fans some legitimate optimism.

Sinners & Saints: Roma 3, Real Madrid 4 - Chiesa Di Totti

Yesterday’s Champions League fixture against Real Madrid was a case study in the extremes of being a Roma fan. What started as a heartwarming reunion between José Mourinho and the Giallorossi faithful ended in absolute heartbreak for Roma supporters, who watched in horror as the club squandered a two-goal lead with seven minutes remaining, winding up on the wrong side of the scorer’s ledger. However, between the raucous applause for the Special One and the almost deafening silence that followed Antonio Rüdiger’s 90th-minute match-winner at the Olimpico, Roma fans the world over experienced a panoply of emotions. From the agony of Mario Hermoso’s near miss early in the match to Marten de Roon’s cracking 20th-minute goal, which was canceled out by an equally beautiful, albeit deflected, strike from Kylian Mbappe five minutes later, the first half alone was enough to give us collective agita. Still, despite those emotional swings, heading into the break level with Los Galacticos was a feather in Roma’s cap.

Serb tennis player Stefan Milicevic banned for 24 years for match-fixing - BBC

A player from Serbia has been given a 24-year suspension from tennis - one of the most severe punishments imposed by anti-corruption investigators outside of a lifetime ban - for match-fixing. Stefan Milicevic, who reached a career-high world ranking of 1,338th in 2014, was charged with fixing six matches, including five in which he was competing. The 29-year-old, who played on the lower rungs of the professional ladder, was also charged with attempting to fix a further six matches between 2022 and 2024. Along with the match-fixing, the International Tennis Integrity Authority (ITIA) said Milicevic was also charged with recruiting or attempting to recruit multiple professional players "as part of a corrupt network". Players who were recruited by Milicevic have also been accused by the ITIA of fixing matches. The severity of Milicevic's sanction is partly down to a lack of co-operation in the investigation. The ITIA said he "did not engage" in the process despite seven separate attempts from the independent organisation to contact him. Milicevic, who also received a £53,000 fine, cannot take part in the sport until his ban ends in October 2050, by which time he will be 53 years old.

Ayao Komatsu: Rafael Camara chosen for F1 2027 seat on speed, not Ferrari links - Motorsport.com

Haas boss Ayao Komatsu says that new Formula 1 recruit Rafael Camara was chosen over the likes of Leonardo Fornaroli and Ryo Hirakawa due to the speed and adaptability he showed during the team's tests with older machinery. In assessing drivers for 2027, Haas put together a series of runs with the 2025 car in its testing of previous cars (TPC) programme, inviting current Formula 2 championship leader Camara, reigning F2 champion Fornaroli and reserves Hirakawa and Jack Doohan.

Congo protests Formula 1's 'indefensible' decision to race in Rwanda - TSN

KINSHASA, Congo (AP) — Formula 1 will “polish the image of an authoritarian leader” if it goes ahead with plans to hold an African Grand Prix in Rwanda, the foreign minister of neighboring Congo, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, said Thursday. Rwandan President Paul Kagame joined F1 Chief Executive Stefano Domenicali and FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem on Tuesday to announce the race. It will be held at a circuit yet to be built at Bugesera, near Rwanda’s capital Kigali, in “the early 2030s," F1 says. The series last raced in Africa in 1993. Congo, the United States and U. N. experts accuse Rwanda of backing M23 rebels in eastern Congo. Rwanda says its security measures are intended to protect it against threats from armed groups operating across the border. “In February 2025, I warned Stefano Domenicali and the F1 authorities that allowing Rwanda to host a Grand Prix would be morally indefensible," Kayikwamba Wagner said in a statement. "(Congo) welcomes Formula 1’s return to Africa, but giving Paul Kagame this platform would help polish the image of an authoritarian leader whose government has helped fuel a devastating war in our country.

Scenes from morning skate: Chytil to make season debut for Canucks vs. Panthers - Canucks Army

Scenes from morning skate: Chytil to make season debut for Canucks vs. PanthersThe Vancouver Canucks (2-6) are out to snap a five-game losing skid when they visit the Florida Panthers (3-2-2) at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, FL. Tonight’s game is scheduled to begin at 4 pm PT. What we saw#Canucks showed the following lines at morning skate Thursday ahead of their game @ FLA: Buium-ManciniFilip Chytil appears set to make his season debut after getting injured in a freak collision with a referee in a preseason game. In 12 games last season, the 27-year-old scored three goals. Chytil skated between Paul Cotter and Brock Boeser this morning while Liam Öhgren returned to a line with Marco Rossi and Linus Karlsson. The Canucks are keeping their top line intact with Elias Pettersson between Jake DeBrusk and Jonathan Lekkerimäki, while Drew O’Connor slides back to the wing on the fourth line with Max Sasson and Brendan Gallagher. Arshdeep Bains skated as the extra forward. There is some question about the way the Canucks will roll out their defensive pairings for tonight’s game.
