When I’m looking for a stock to buy, I want its growth story to be simple. I want a business that is growing, making money, and creating ways to expand over time. I also want to see enough financial strength that one weak quarter wouldn’t suddenly change everything. Two Canadian stocks are currently checking a lot of those boxes for me. That’s why I’m considering buying both.

On Sunday, Vancouver’s Thomas Nobbs ran a speedy 2:08:35 to finish 17th at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. He was the top Canadian finisher and once again moved up the national all-time list to become the third-fastest marathoner, behind national record holder Cam Levins and marathon star Rory Linkletter, who made a surprise appearance. Ben Flanagan of Kitchener, Ont., was the next Canadian finisher, clocking 2:12:36 for 28th overall. The reigning national marathon champion opted not to defend his title at the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon on Oct. 18, instead choosing the faster course and coming away with a new personal best. In Dec. 2025, Thomas Fafard of Repentigny, Que., smashed the Quebec provincial marathon record in his debut at last year’s The Marathon Project in Arizona with a 2:10:29, but couldn’t set another PB on Sunday. He finished 38th overall, in 2:16:23.

The hardest part about investing conservatively is finding fundamentally solid stocks that feel safe — without feeling stuck. A stock can be stable but have very few growth prospects. Another could rally in the short term but cause stress when the market turns volatile. That’s why the better setup is somewhere in the middle. You want businesses with dependable demand, strong finances, and enough room to keep expanding over time. This is becoming even more important after our strong market in 2026 because paying attention to quality often matters more than simply following momentum.

The first cars are expected to begin carrying passengers in 2031, with the entire order in service by 2035.

The veteran fullback will play in her 100th and final match for Canada when it faces Denmark on Monday at BMO Field. One of the fiercest competitors in the history of the Canadian women's team is about to take her final bow. Canada Soccer recently announced that fullback Allysha Chapman will play in her 100th and final international match for Canada when it faces Denmark on Monday at Toronto's BMO Field. She will become the 24th member of the Canadian women's team to reach the 100 cap mark. Her last cap came three years ago.

Volkswagen has officially unveiled the new ID. Tiguan, giving its popular electric SUV a new name, updated design, and a long list of improvements. The replacement for the ID.4 and ID.5 will launch in Europe early next year, before arriving in Canada later in 2027. The name might be familiar, but the ID. Tiguan is not simply an electric version of the gas-powered Tiguan. It continues to use Volkswagen’s dedicated electric vehicle platform, now upgraded to MEB+, while adopting a more traditional SUV design.
