Pope: May we pray for the intercession of the Virgin Mary for world peace - Vatican News

After the Angelus catechesis, Pope Leo once again invited the faithful to pray the Rosary, joining the initiative of Aid to the Church in Need: “In particular, let us pray for the Holy Land and for the innocent victims of violence.” He expressed his joy at the many initiatives dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi and announced a period of synodal discernment on the family that will take place at the Vatican, ten years after Amoris Laetitia An appeal for wars to end and for peace to be built. The Pope renewed this appeal following the recitation of the Angelus prayer he led from the window of the Apostolic Palace. As he did during his recent visit to Lourdes, France, he again urged everyone to pray the Rosary for peace and unity in the world, standing in solidarity with children who have already begun doing so through the initiative of the Aid to the Church in Need Foundation, “One Million Children Praying the Holy Rosary.”

Electric tractors in India: Evidence from real‑world pilots and implications for policy - International Council on Clean Transportation

India registers close to 1 million new tractors every year, three times the number of buses and trucks combined. With the current emission standards, a majority of these tractors are allowed to emit 60 times the PM2.5 limit of trucks or buses. Due to noise and vibrations, prolonged use of diesel tractors also has implications for the health of farmers. Electric tractors can potentially address these issues, but low adoption by farmers despite subsidies in some states like Haryana, points to technology uncertainty; can electric tractors meet requirements of India farmers? This working paper presents structured, real-world evidence on how electric tractors perform against diesel across everyday farm and transport operations, based on a pilot project that studied five e-tractor models from four manufacturers across Haryana over 11 months.

Jacob Rees-Mogg accuses Tucker Carlson of ‘verging on defending Hitler’ - The Guardian

The former Tory minister Jacob Rees-Mogg has found himself defending Britain’s decision to fight against Adolf Hitler after inviting the US rightwinger and Vladimir Putin sympathiser Tucker Carlson into his home for an interview. During the encounter, Carlson repeatedly suggested the west was to blame for inviting aggression from Russia and said of the prospect that Britain could have lost to Hitler: “Who cares?”Rees-Mogg, who lost his parliamentary seat in 2024, appears to have agreed to host Carlson’s podcast show after carving out a post-politics career as a commentator. Carlson set up the show after leaving Fox News and losing faith with Donald Trump, largely citing the US president’s willingness to get involved in foreign wars. Carlson has interviewed Putin and taken a sympathetic position towards Russia over Ukraine. In the lengthy debate on foreign policy and global tensions, the US commentator repeatedly goaded Rees-Mogg over the smallness of the UK armed forces and suggested Russia was more powerful. Rees-Mogg explained that the UK economy was bigger and made the case that Britain and western allies had to support Ukraine and deter Russian aggression.

Florida weighs ditching property taxes and sticking Canadians with the bill - CBC

Florida voters are weighing whether to scrap residential property taxes, and the state's governor has a solution to that potentially huge revenue loss: tax Canadians more. Canadians who own property in Florida describe the threats to shake them down for more money as just the latest insult in a series of them since U. S. President Donald Trump returned to power last year with a decidedly anti-Canada agenda. Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has railed against property taxes, which fund local governments and the services they provide — law enforcement, fire, EMS, disaster preparation and mosquito control, among many others — equating them to a form of modern-day feudalism where homeowners must "pony up money to the government just for the courtesy of using your own property. "To end this, DeSantis is pushing Amendment 3, a ballot measure crafted by his Republican statehouse allies that will be put to voters in the midterm election next month. If passed, Florida "homesteaders," as permanent residents are called, will see a dramatic increase in an existing property tax exemption.

World Grand Prix Darts 2026 results: Luke Humphries beats Gerwyn Price - BBC

World number two Luke Humphries ended a 16-month wait for a PDC major trophy with a stunning 6-4 victory over Gerwyn Price in the World Grand Prix final. Humphries, 31, was at the top of the sport two years ago but has found his dominance superseded by Luke Littler and had failed to taste major success since winning the Premier League in May 2025. A ranking title had eluded him since claiming the Masters in February last year, but he showed his class and an abundance of character to lift the title at the unique 'double-in, double-out' tournament in Leicester. The second seed, who was in a record-breaking fourth successive World Grand Prix final, trailed Price 3-0 but won four sets on the spin to take control. Price levelled but Humphries broke in the deciding leg of set five and then won three straight legs to be crowned champion. It is his second World Grand Prix title, adding to his 2023 success that started his march to becoming world number one. The victory ensures he retains his number two ranking from the Netherlands' Gian van Veen. "It's kind of like I needed this to give me a bit of confidence," Humphries told Sky Sports.

Evans ends Britain’s wait for world rally title after Solberg crashes two corners from glory - The Guardian

Elfyn Evans ended years of heartache, and a quarter-of-a-century wait for Britain, by winning the World Rally Championship title with Toyota after a dramatic season finale in Sardinia on Sunday. The Welshman had been championship runner-up five times in the last six years but emerged triumphant after a final Powerstage duel with teammate Oliver Solberg ended with the charging Swede crashing out two corners from the finish while on course to take the crown. Solberg, 25, ran wide and careered down a bank before getting the car back on the road. He still won the rally but lost the crucial bonus points on offer for the top five in the final stage. Evans, with co-driver Scott Martin at his side, ‌became the first British world ‌rally champion since Englishman Richard Burns in 2001 and only the third since Scottish driver Colin McRae became ‌the first in 1995. Sweden’s Solberg, son of Norway’s 2003 champion Petter, ended the season as runner-up. The final standings left Evans on 243 points, Solberg on 238 and Sami Pajari on 237 in what was also the end of an era for the sport with new regulations in force next year.
