Middle Corridor Could Add $58 Billion to Regional GDP by 2040, World Bank Says - The Astana Times

ASTANA – The Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor could increase the combined gross domestic product of countries along the route by 3.3% and generate around two million jobs by 2040 if governments invest in infrastructure and improve cross-border coordination, according to a World Bank report presented in Astana on Oct. 15. “The Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, also known as the Middle Corridor, is more than a transit route. It can help Central Asian countries connect with global markets, attract investment, diversify their economies and create business opportunities,” said Andrei Mikhnev, World Bank country manager for Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

Milwaukee, you have a World Series! 44 years later, this one's for the believers - MLB.com

LOS ANGELES — There’s always been the misconception that it was the late, legendary Bob Uecker who uttered what were, before Thursday night, the six sweetest words ever said about the Milwaukee Brewers. But no. Uecker hustled down to the clubhouse amid the final innings of Game 5 of the 1982 American League Championship Series to host the pending celebration on radio. So when Rod Carew hit a bouncer to Robin Yount at shortstop, and Yount made a throw to Cecil Cooper that seemed like it hung in the air forever, and fans streamed onto the field at County Stadium with joy, it was Uecker’s broadcast partner, Dwayne Mosley, who said those six magic words. “Milwaukee, you have a World Series!” Over the next four decades, it sometimes seemed like those words might never be said again. Then, it happened. The Brewers came from four runs down to beat the Dodgers in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, 6-4, and swept the series in four games. Milwaukee – and Wisconsin – you have a World Series. This time, it was one of Uecker’s partners in the booth, Jeff Levering, who had the call when Jackson Chourio ran down the final out at the left field warning track.

Ashley Landis/The Associated PressGarrett Mitchell hit a go-ahead homer in the sixth inning, Milwaukee’s brilliant bullpen slammed the door late and the Brewers rallied past the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on Thursday in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series to earn their first World Series trip since 1982. No. 9 hitter David Hamilton’s two-out solo shot off Edwin Díaz gave the Brewers a two-run cushion in the ninth. Hamilton had just four homers in the regular season. “We got down early tonight and we were like, it’s going to be a great story,” Brewers captain Christian Yelich said. “We’re going to come back and win this. Like, stay together, start chipping away. And that’s exactly what they did.”Aaron Ashby pitched three scoreless innings for a save as the Brewers erased a four-run deficit to win their first NL pennant and second overall.
