The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recorded 4,410 measles cases so far in 2026, an increase of 330 in a week, and has dispatched an investigator to the state of Pennsylvania to help contain the country’s largest outbreak.
CDC figures also show 451 measles-related hospitalisations nationwide this year. Children and teenagers aged five to 19 account for 42 percent of cases, followed by adults aged 20 and older, who make up 41 percent. Seventeen percent of cases were among children under the age of five.
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani walks to the dugout after striking out during the seventh inning of Game 4 of baseball’s National League Championship Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, Thursday, Oct. LOS ANGELES (AP) — There won’t be a three-peat for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their dream of becoming the first team to win three consecutive World Series titles since the New York Yankees from 1998-2000 — and the first National League club ever to accomplish the feat — faded with anemic offense, a shaky bullpen and an ailing Shohei Ohtani slumping in the postseason.

The lawsuit centres on claims that 20,000 “likely” non-citizens were enrolled to vote. California officials say the allegations are unsubstantiated. Early voting has already begun in the state.
ASTANA – The Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor could increase the combined gross domestic product of countries along the route by 3.3% and generate around two million jobs by 2040 if governments invest in infrastructure and improve cross-border coordination, according to a World Bank report presented in Astana on Oct. 15.
“The Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, also known as the Middle Corridor, is more than a transit route. It can help Central Asian countries connect with global markets, attract investment, diversify their economies and create business opportunities,” said Andrei Mikhnev, World Bank country manager for Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
LOS ANGELES — There’s always been the misconception that it was the late, legendary Bob Uecker who uttered what were, before Thursday night, the six sweetest words ever said about the Milwaukee Brewers. But no. Uecker hustled down to the clubhouse amid the final innings of Game 5 of the 1982 American League Championship Series to host the pending celebration on radio. So when Rod Carew hit a bouncer to Robin Yount at shortstop, and Yount made a throw to Cecil Cooper that seemed like it hung in the air forever, and fans streamed onto the field at County Stadium with joy, it was Uecker’s broadcast partner, Dwayne Mosley, who said those six magic words. “Milwaukee, you have a World Series!”
Over the next four decades, it sometimes seemed like those words might never be said again. Then, it happened. The Brewers came from four runs down to beat the Dodgers in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, 6-4, and swept the series in four games. Milwaukee – and Wisconsin – you have a World Series. This time, it was one of Uecker’s partners in the booth, Jeff Levering, who had the call when Jackson Chourio ran down the final out at the left field warning track.
