Bringing CRM into the flow of work and agents into business process for sales and service teams | AI at Work Blog - Microsoft
The traditional boundaries of business applications are disappearing. For decades, people went to their customer relationship management (CRM) to find customer context, take action, and move work forward. AI is inverting that model. This shift creates two complementary opportunities: greater individual productivity and organization-wide process transformation. Customer context, expertise, and actions can now come directly into Copilot and Microsoft Teams, helping sales and service reps get work done where they already work. At the same time, autonomous agents can move defined processes across teams and systems, bringing people in when judgment, approval, or specialized input is needed.

Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series. Before we dive into our discussion, our readers would love to “get to know you” a bit better. Can you share with us the backstory about what brought you to your specific career path in AI? I had spent about 20 years watching companies try to automate enterprise work. Business process management and robotic process automation made important contributions, but they were usually effective only when the process followed a predictable path.

AMAT’s third-quarter fiscal 2026 revenues reached a record $1.78 billion, up 22% year over year, while non-GAAP operating margin rose to 30.1% from 27.3%. More than 37,000 chambers are connected to AIx software for monitoring, diagnostics and predictive analytics. What Top Performers Do Differently with AI—and Why They See the Biggest Benefits - Harvard Business Review
Harvard Business Review LogoOctober 8, 2026Illustration by Jason FordAI isn’t simply replacing sales work or automatically equalizing sales performance; it’s providing disproportionate lift to individuals and organizations that can build systems aroundGenerative AI has produced two competing views about which workers will benefit most. One view is that AI will narrow performance gaps by giving lower performers templates, answers, and coaching directly in their workflow. The other is that AI will widen those gaps by eliminating routine but necessary work, which will allow top performers to spend more time on higher-value activities where they already have an advantage. At the individual task level, high and low performers may both benefit, but the more important question is which effect dominates on net in real jobs, where workers perform bundles of activities. The answer matters for how firms hire, train, organize teams, and adjust practices built for their current talent mix.

I enjoyed the chat, and you should check it out! Also this week, I share some numbers from a highly competitive September for the video game market (and there’s some real positives in there). And as an extra treat, we have a short interview with Lybee Park, who is the CEO of Pearl Abyss Europe (that’s the Crimson Desert folks). You can read some of the headlines below, or listen to the full conversations above. Enjoy! It was a month full of blockbuster AAA releases, but it was new IP from independent developers that delivered the goods in September.
