The federal government is looking to build a 60 MW data centre in Ottawa for Canda’s cyber spy agency. CTV’s Stefan Keyes reports. The federal government is looking to build a data centre in the national capital region to support Canada’s cyber spy agency, saying it will focus on the “mid to long-term objectives” of government operations, security and technology. Defence Construction Canada issued an advance procurement notice for the data centre last week, saying it is informing “design-builders of an upcoming contract located” in the Ottawa area. The estimated cost of the project is $1.5 billion to $1.8 billion, with the tender expected to be issued in 2027. “To increase its capacity in supporting the mid to long-term objectives related to operations, security, and technology modernization, the Government of Canada is planning to design and construction a data centre facility within the national capital region,” said the notice issued on the federal government’s website.

Trump Suffers Double Inflation Blow Within 48 Hours as Midterms Loom - Newsweek

President Donald Trump suffered a second inflation setback in as many days on Thursday after a closely watched key economic indicator recorded its largest monthly increase in more than four years. The Producer Price Index—what producers collect for making goods and services—rose 1.3 percent in September, accelerating from 0.5 percent in August and 0.2 percent in July, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said. It was the largest monthly increase since March 2022. Producer prices were also 6.3 percent higher than a year earlier, the fastest annual increase since December 2022. The report followed Wednesday's Consumer Price Index, which showed prices paid by consumers increasing 0.6 percent during September and 3.7 percent from a year earlier. Taken together, experts said the reports show that inflationary pressure is reaching businesses and households. That could create a difficult political message for Trump and congressional Republicans less than three weeks before the November 3 midterm elections. “These two reports together are a warning that inflation is still working its way through the economy,” Michael Ryan, a finance expert and the founder of MichaelRyanMoney.com, told Newsweek.

The Porsche Mission S Supercar Platform Is Ready for a Manual Transmission: CEO - Road & Track

The Porsche Mission S concept car revealed on Thursday is meant to point the way towards the carmaker’s future—one where a new flagship supercar above the 911 pushes the brand upmarket while strengthening ties to the company’s past. And that future, it seems, could include an old-fashioned row-your-own stick shift. During remarks at the launch event in New York City, Porsche CEO Dr. Michael Leiters stressed the new super sport car platform’s flexibility in terms of powertrain, specifically stating that it could be powered by either pure internal-combustion engines or hybrid ones … and, perhaps more interestingly, either manual or PDK-style automatic transmissions. “Customer demand will define what we build on this platform,” he said. Leiters ought to be trusted; not only is he the big man in charge at Zuffenhausen, but he also played no small role in the Mission S’s creation. As he told the assembled media at the debut, he personally went to recently appointed head of design Tobias Sühlmann six months ago and said the brand needed a new mid-engined supercar with a new design language. The result? The Mission S. “This is a car that screams I want to drive it.

Gold approaches $4,170, silver gains 3% as bond rally lifts precious metals - Kitco PM Report - Kitco

(Kitco NewsWire) - Gold and silver prices are sharply higher in late U. S. trading Thursday, as falling Treasury yields, a weaker U. S. dollar and renewed safe-haven demand helped precious metals recover from Wednesday's inflation-driven selloff. A stronger-than-expected U. S. producer inflation report failed to reverse the rally in government bonds, with concerns over heavily indebted artificial intelligence companies drawing capital into Treasuries. At the time of writing, spot gold was trading near $4,168.70 an ounce, up $64.20, or 1.56%, while spot silver was trading near $57.310, up $1.800, or 3.24%. North American equities closed higher after recovering from sharp early losses, as falling Treasury yields and strength outside the technology sector offset continuing concerns about AI infrastructure spending. The S&P 500 advanced 0.3%, recovering from an early decline of approximately 0.6%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.1%, supported by health care, retail and other defensive shares. The Nasdaq Composite finished 0.1% higher after reversing an intraday loss of approximately 1.4%.

Targeted ads delivered 0-click exploits to install mercenary malware - Ars Technica

Among the major vendors that listed Discover-Tech as a “certified” or “verified” vendor were Google and the advertising industry association IAB Europe. The Israeli firm also used European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) consent frameworks to target users within the European Union. Discover-Tech has served ads through major networks such as Google, Yandex, and Beeswax. Google and IAB Europe have since removed Discover-Tech from their ad vendor registries, and Google further terminated Discover-Tech’s access to its ad exchange platforms. Beeswax has removed Discover-Tech from its ad buying platform. Fellow ad platform Vungle (Liftoff) paused Discover-Tech’s access while conducting a review, and Eskimi blocked Discover-Tech’s accounts and domains.

Above the 911? Porsche previews a new mid-engined supercar. - Ars Technica

And, as we learned today, a mid-engined supercar. “The Mission S provides a glimpse of the ideas and design features that will shape Porsche in the coming years,” said Leiters. “At the same time, the Mission S represents a mid-engined supersports car platform positioned above the 911—not as a one-off hypercar, but as a permanent and versatile addition to our customer offering.” Driver engagement is the aim, and I’d bet that “on your own” red button turns off a bunch of driver assists.

Mission… accepted: meet the stunning new mid-engined Porsche Mission S - Top Gear

SupercarsAnd it’s a full production supercar, not a limited-edition hypertoy. OooftPublished: 15 Oct 2026Porsche is on the ropes. Its profits – once the envy of many a carmaker – fell off a cliff last year, plunging a whopping 93 per cent to €90m. Its bet on an EV future resulted in… two new petrol crossovers. It’s now on a mission to turn the ship around. And this is part of the solution. Welcome to the stunning new Mission S supercar. Advertisement - Page continues belowIt’s not a limited-edition hypertoy conceived for the fortunate few (though no doubt it’d sell out in seconds), but a full-production car that’ll sit at the top of Porsche tree. Which means it’ll look down on Porsche’s halo car. “The Mission S represents a mid-engined super sports car platform positioned above the 911 – not as a one-off hypercar, but as a permanent and versatile addition to our customer offering,” said boss Michael Leiters. You might likeIt was designed to be “recognisable as a Porsche at first glance”, and we’d say… mission accomplished. It’s very 911-alike at the front with that familiar headlight arrangement, a slatted bonnet, a clean front bumper, and what Porsche deems ‘torpedo’ wings.
