Jim Bakker, televangelist who rose to fame and fell from grace, dies at 86 - Los Angeles Times

9:53 p.m. Oct. 6, 2026A previous version of this article said Jim Bakker married Lori Beth Graham in 1988. The couple were married in 1998. In the halcyon days of the televangelists, when Jim Bakker stood shoulder to shoulder with fire and brimstone preachers such as Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and Jimmy Swaggart, the collection plate always seemed bottomless. For Bakker, it meant a Christian theme park in a leafy Charlotte, N. C., suburb, a fleet of black Cadillac limousines, vacation homes, regular orders of truffles flown in from Brussels, a gold-plated bathtub, mink coats for his then-wife, Tammy Faye, and an air-conditioned doghouse at the family compound. In return for your unbending faith, he told viewers of his popular television show “The PTL Club,” God will bestow you great wealth and other blessings. And to get things rolling, he added, just call the 800 number on the bottom of your screen. When it all fell apart amid a sex scandal and a fraud conviction, Bakker landed in prison and took stock of his life.

Kremlin-Cozy Hockey Great Alex Ovechkin Announces Plans To Hang Up His Skates - HuffPost

WASHINGTON (AP) — Alex Ovechkin said Monday that his 22nd season in the NHL will be his last, beginning the farewell tour for the longtime Washington Capitals captain who holds the league’s career goal-scoring record. Ovechkin addressed teammates to deliver the news before the team posted a message from him on social media. “It’s sad, but it is what it is,” Ovechkin said in his locker room address. “It’s hard, but let’s enjoy it and let’s do some special things this year.”Ovechkin signed a one-year contract this past summer and turned 41 on Sept. 17. All signs pointed to this being the end, and he said he and his family decided as much in recent months. “I love this game so much, but I know in my heart it’s the right decision,” the Russian star said in a statement released before the Capitals’ home opener Wednesday night. Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky’s goals record in April 2025 and entered this season at 929. The front office acquired Jordan Kyrou and Alex Tuch in trades and signed fellow forward Boone Jenner and defenseman Vincent Desharnais in free agency to add around a young core in the hopes of making another long playoff run and contending for the Stanley Cup.

Points clés:Craig-Hallum downgraded Sphere Entertainment to Hold and cut its price target to $132 from $170. Sphere said “Wizard of Oz” has generated over $500 million in ticket sales. Sphere Entertainment’s Q2 revenue rose 11% to $313.6 million, but losses widened. Shares of Sphere Entertainment Co. Craig-Hallum Sees No Meaningful Demand Increase At SphereCraig-Hallum analyst Ryan Sigdahl downgraded Sphere Entertainment to 'hold' from 'buy,' according to a summary of the note on The Fly, and lowered his price target to $132 from $170, citing "faster-than-expected" weakening in demand for “The Wizard of Oz”. The new target still implies 19% upside from Monday's close.
