Selma Blair accused of attacking 2 flight attendants and assaulting a police officer and nurse - Yahoo

NEW YORK (AP) — Actor Selma Blair was arrested after she was accused of injuring two flight attendants on a trip from Los Angeles to New York. She was also accused of kicking a police officer taking her to the hospital and kicking a nurse once she got there. She pleaded not guilty Monday night to two counts of assault for state charges involving the officer and the nurse. And she faces separate federal charges based on what happened on the flight, which her representatives say was brought on by a severe medical emergency. Blair, 54, was detained by police at around 11 p.m. Sunday after the Delta Air Lines jet parked at the gate at John F. Kennedy International Airport, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said in a statement. Blair and one of the flight attendants were taken to a hospital for evaluation, the Port Authority said. A police officer taking her to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center said in charging documents that while she was securing Blair to a stretcher, Blair pulled a leg from the straps and kicked her repeatedly around the face, neck and chest, causing serious pain and substantial swelling.

Dan Levy Says He’s ‘Speechless’ Over Shane Gillis’ Misogynist ‘SNL’ Monologue - HuffPost

Dan Levy is encouraging male viewers to denounce Shane Gillis’ controversial “Saturday Night Live” monologue, noting he’d been personally left “speechless” after catching it over the weekend. On Sunday evening, the “Schitt’s Creek” actor and co-creator shared a short video on Instagram in which he called Gillis out for his much-scrutinized “SNL” remarks. “Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists,” Levy said. “There’s a difference there. By the way, I’ve seen more men’s nipples at the gym than I’ve seen women showing their bodies off.”“But I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television,” he continued.

Dolly Parton’s Nephew Says Manager Dispute Has Taken Toll On Family - Newsweek

Bryan Seaver, Dolly Parton's nephew, says an escalating legal battle over the management of the late country star's estate has become a painful public ordeal that has "taken a toll on his family.” In a statement sent to Newsweek on Monday through his attorneys, Dominic J. Leonardo and James L. Collier, Seaver appeared to accuse Parton's longtime manager Danny Nozell of presenting a one-sided account of their dispute and argued that messages cited in court filings have been taken out of context. Newsweek contacted Nozell via email for comment on Monday. The comments come as newly filed documents obtained by Newsweek show the estate continuing to rely on emails allegedly sent by Seaver as it pursues claims against him. The dispute centers on allegations that Seaver interfered with estate-related business relationships after Parton's death, claims he denies. A court hearing is scheduled for October 20 as both sides continue filing new evidence. Seaver Says Dispute Has Become Public Ordeal Seaver's attorneys issued a statement Monday describing the case as a private family matter that has become increasingly public. "Mr.

Low-Budget Movies That Turned Into Box Office Hits - Arizona Daily Star

Over the years, several unexpected Hollywood hits have proven that a film doesn’t need a massive budget to be successful. Sylvester Stallone’s Academy Award-winning film ‘Rocky’ came from humble beginnings. According to a 1990 Vanity Fair profile, Stallone initially rejected a $360,000 offer for the script because the producers wanted someone else to play the lead. The decision paid off, with Stallone securing a $1 million budget and ‘Rocky’ ultimately grossing $225 million worldwide. The 2004 film ‘Napoleon Dynamite’, directed by Jared Hess, was made by a group of recently graduated Brigham Young University film students on a budget of just $400,000. The film was financed partly with money borrowed from the brother of producer Jeremy Coon and was shot in just three weeks.
