‘DWTS’ Source Says Val Chmerkovskiy Was Almost Fired by “Furious” Producers and Apologized to “Save His Job” - Cosmopolitan
Wondering what the vibes are like behind the scenes on Dancing With the Stars amid Val Chmerkovskiy being benched for a week? Apparently, producers are “furious,” and Val had to apologize to Carrie Ann Inaba for his “Oscar Slap” comment in order to keep his job. “He won’t be [fired], no,” a source tells The Sun. “But producers on the show encouraged him to save face by making an apology to her. He doubled down on the joke at first, and once the backlash got as loud as it did, he had a talking-to and did it to save his job.”Meanwhile, Carrie Ann is still feeling “like she’s walking on eggshells” and the insider says, “What Val said made it so she doesn’t know how to move forward after this. She stands by what she said to Jenna; she was being constructive. Making that kind of joke was a shock to Carrie Ann.”Reminder: Val made an “Oscar Slap” reference in the aftermath of Carrie Ann criticizing Val’s wife Jenna Johnson for a rule-breaking lift.

Six Flags adding seat belts to Goliath rollercoaster following death - BBC
Six Flags adding seat belts to Goliath rollercoaster following death 1 hour agoGrace Eliza GoodwinGetty ImagesThe train of the Goliath roller coaster is seen on the track at Six Flags over GeorgiaSix Flags has announced it will be adding seat belts to some of its rollercoasters after a man fell to his death on the Goliath ride in the US state of Georgia earlier this month. The company's CEO John Reilly said in a letter to customers late on Friday that the company is reinforcing safety measure across its parks, including adding seat belts to Goliath and similar rides, which already feature lap bar restraints. The chain of amusement parks has 34 locations across North America, with over 220 rollercoasters in total. Georgia's Goliath ride will remain closed pending safety reviews and out of an abundance of caution, so will eight other rides at five other parks, Reilly added. The CEO also said the company has hired independent engineers and ride inspection specialists to review safety procedures across all its amusement parks. The company is committed to taking action based on the experts' findings and will share progress updates, he said.
