O'Sullivan has had a quiet start to the 2026-27 season, with a run to the semi-finals of the Wuhan Open the only significant result in his five tournaments to date. Two last-16 finishes preceded his final-four finish at that event, but he has been defeated in the first round in his two subsequent appearances, in Shenzhen and Belfast. Having earned £513,750 at ranking events over two years, O'Sullivan is £99,350 ahead of Ali Carter, who holds 16th spot in the world rankings, and £154,650 clear of Zhou Yuelong, who sits in 17th, with winnings of £359,100. On first glance, that appears to be a comfortable cushion, with only a set of significant runs from his rivals putting him at risk of having to qualify for the World Championships in May next year. However, there are issues over the horizon, because over a third of O'Sullivan's winnings come from reaching the final of the Saudi Arabia Masters in August 2025. The £200,000 he won in Jeddah will continue to count towards his ranking past the 2027 World Championship, but that money will slip out of the eligibility period soon after the start of the 2027-28 season.

Titans reportedly released Jordan Elliott after he fetched gun following scuffle in practice - The Guardian
Jordan Elliott, the defensive lineman released Tuesday by the Tennessee Titans, reportedly went to his car to retrieve a gun after an altercation in practice last Thursday. Ordered to leave the field after a scuffle with right tackle JC Latham, Elliott took off his pads, left the facility and went to the players’ lot where security cameras captured the scene, according to multiple reports from A to Z Sports and KPRC2. Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers reportedly talked Elliott down and no one was hurt. Elliott did not practice Friday due to “personal reasons” and was inactive for Sunday’s 26-20 win against the Indianapolis Colts. After reviewing the footage, the Titans opted to release the 28-year-old, who had signed a two-year, $8m deal during the offseason. “On Thursday 15 October, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott,” the Titans said in a statement. “Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter. “Elliott appeared in the first five games of the season for the Titans.

Former Open champion Oosthuizen quits LIV Golf - BBC
Former Open Championship winner Louis Oosthuizen has become the latest high-profile player to quit LIV Golf, describing it as the "hardest decision he has had to make in his career". The league filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States in September after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund withdrew its multibillion-dollar backing. Oosthuizen, 44, joined LIV Golf in 2022 and was captain of the Southern Guards GC team. The South African now plans to return to the DP World Tour in 2027. "Five years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life, moving away from the traditional golf world and into something very special with LIV Golf and Southern Guards GC," Oosthuizen posted on social media. "I'm the biggest supporter of team golf and always will be. Golf needs more of it. "This is probably the hardest decision I've had to make in my career, but I have to do what I believe is right for my golf. "The 2010 Open champion, who has finished as a runner-up at least once in each of the other three majors, said a more flexible playing schedule will help him to compete at a high level.

Report: Released DL Elliott attempted to retrieve gun after spat with Titans teammate - TSN
Former Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jordan Elliott was attempting to retrieve a gun from his car following an altercation with a teammate during practice last week, a source confirmed to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The Titans released Elliott on Tuesday, citing an undisclosed "incident" that occurred at the team facility last Thursday. A source confirmed to Garafolo that, after a dispute with offensive lineman JC Latham, Elliott went to his parked car in the players' parking lot to get the gun. The gun never left Elliott's parking spot, the source told Garafolo. Multiple media outlets first reported Tuesday night that Elliott attempted to retrieve the gun from his car. Titans defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers helped to deescalate the situation, according to multiple reports. The Titans notified the NFL of the incident, which currently is being reviewed by the league. The NFL's firearm policy prohibits any personnel from possessing firearms at any team or league facilities, including stadiums, hotels, planes and buses, a league spokesman told ESPN. NFL rules stipulate that players are not allowed to possess firearms at any team or league facilities.
