‘Street Fighter’ Punches Its Way to Top Of the Box Office - Gizmodo

Quite a few movies came out this weekend, but only one could be the top performer—and that was Street Fighter. Per Variety, Paramount and Capcom’s martial arts movie made $51.1 million worldwide, with $30 million coming from domestic markets. Already, the global take puts it well ahead of the $12 million earned by its predecessor, 2009’s The Legend of Chun-Li and behind the $99.4 million of the 1994 film. Compared to more recent video games movies—namely, September’s Resident Evil and May’s Mortal Kombat II—this opening falls behind the former’s $103.8 million and the latter’s $60 million. Mixed reactions from critics and audiences alike have dominated much of the online Street Fighter chatter. It may have reportedly cost just $82 million to make, but the split divide may hurt the film in the next few weeks as the month (and year) get significantly busier. Given how the film ends, it’s clear the creative team would like to do more—it’s just a matter of whether ticket or eventual viewership numbers get them there. Between Street Fighter and the mass interest in Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s You Can See Everything, how’d Whalefall do?

Nathan Fielder Tells Us Everything - WIRED

Oct 19, 2026 7:30 AMNathan Fielder Tells Us EverythingIncluding what Elizabeth Holmes said to him last week. A WIRED exclusive interview with the comic auteur, as his first feature film hits theaters. Photograph by Keith Oshiro for WIREDA few months ago, Nathan Fielder’s publicist sent me an unexpected email: Would WIRED be interested in Fielder for a fall cover of our magazine? The answer, before we even got a reason, was yes. The reason, it turned out, was that Fielder would soon release a project that was so top-secret, I’d need to sign an NDA to even hear about what it was—let alone watch it. I signed, I heard, and then I saw, counting myself among the few dozen people who’d screened You Can See Everything before the film debuted in the first days of September as a secret addition to the Telluride Film Festival.
