RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Hundreds of people gathered Saturday for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Northern Nevada at the Sparks Marina. The event is the Alzheimer’s Association’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting local care and support services, educational programs and research. Event organizers said they are building a future with improved care, stronger support and, ultimately, a world without Alzheimer’s. Organizers set a goal of raising $350,000 to go toward helping those impacted by Alzheimer’s. They have raised $314,000 so far. “In Nevada, we have over 55,000 people that have a formal diagnosis of dementia. So, we need to be out there raising funds for research, helping these families and also we have over 136,000 unpaid caregivers in just Nevada. So, we need to support those families and help them out any way we can,” said Lisa Rains, Development Manager with the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California and Nevada. Copyright 2026 KOLO.
