Vermont Green FC men’s head coach Chris Taylor is stepping down. Taylor led the Green men’s side to two consecutive USL League Two National Championships in 2025 and 2026. Taylor has been with the club since its inaugural season in 2022, when he served as an assistant coach under sporting director and then-head coach Adam Pfeifer. He took over as head coach in 2025. “This decision has not come lightly or without much thought, but family circumstances and the need to spend more time with my family must take priority in the coming year,” said Taylor in a letter the club shared on Monday. “I have given VGFC everything over the past five years, and I can no longer provide that level of commitment or energy. The only thing that makes this slightly easier is knowing the strength of the club I am leaving behind.”More from Vermont Public: ‘There’s nothing we cannot do,’ Vermont Green FC coach says ahead of national finalTaylor completes his Vermont Green head coaching tenure with a record of 35 wins, seven draws and zero losses across all competitions. Severe storm causes damages in San Clemente; National Weather Service confirms no tornado
WEATHERSeveral trees came down as severe weather hit San Clemente. The National Weather Service confirmed, however, that a tornado did not touch down in the area. Friday, October 23, 2026 1:49AMSAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (KABC) -- Several trees came down as severe weather hit San Clemente. The National Weather Service confirmed, however, that a tornado did not touch down in the area. The NWS sent personnel to survey the storm damage. They say that a severe thunderstorm pushed through the area around 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. Wednesday and believe winds most likely exceeded 58 mph. The storm uprooted trees. Former San Clemente Mayor Tim Brown recorded video while on the municipal golf course as the storm passed and captured uprooted trees and heavy rain. He said that the winds and rain came out of nowhere. Meteorologists on the ground say the storm's strong winds affected only a small area and that it was not a tornado. "Taking a look at weather data, discussing this with my colleagues, it looks like this is straight line wind damage. So we have just winds kind of came from the coast all the way up here.

David Pastrnak, Michael DiPietro help Bruins maul Predators on home ice
Jet lag? What Jet lag? Just a day after completing a successful and exhausting 11-day trip out West, the Bruins returned home and played one of their most complete games of the season — a 6-0 victory over the Predators Thursday night at TD Garden. David Pastrnak (2 goals, 2 assists) and Charlie McAvoy (4 assists) propelled the offense and Michael DiPietro, making his first career start at TD Garden, took care of the back end with 28 saves. It was the first career shutout for DiPietro, who earned his first career victory in his last start in a 4-2 victory over the Ducks last Friday in Anaheim. Pastrnak has 16 points to lead the Bruins while McAvoy has 6 points since returning from his six-game suspension to start the season. After Casey Mittelstadt opened the scoring with his first-period tally at 3:49, the Bruins doubled their lead when Elias Lindholm tipped home his fourth of the season — a power-play goal at 16:38. Pastrnak (a tip of a McAvoy blue line bomb) and JJ Peterka (his own rebound off a Pastrnak feed) scored in the second period to give the Bruins (8-2-1) a comfortable 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Supplement sold at gas stations blamed for California man's opioid overdose
San Francisco health officials are warning the public about misrepresented supplements sold in gas stations and smoke shops after a man overdosed on a supplement portrayed as “cat’s claw” that contained a potent, laboratory-created opioid-like chemical. Health officials warned about the dangers of dihydro-7-hydroxymirtragynine, also known as MGM-15, a chemically modified form of 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), an opioid-like chemical found in trace amounts in the kratom plant, according to the Coleman Institute for Addiction Medicine. The modified MGM-15 was detected in a 37-year-old man who overdosed and died in late September, according to the office of the chief medical examiner in San Francisco. The chief medical examiner ruled the cause of death to be an accident caused by the “toxic effects of kratom alkaloids,” according to a coroner’s reported obtained by The Times.

Why Nurturing Connection is Good for Your Health
Most Americans say that spending time with loved ones is one of the most important things in their lives — and yet, amid the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day, relationships often take a backseat to other commitments. We find ourselves canceling date nights to finish work, rescheduling family calls to catch up on chores — maybe even choosing to scroll on our phones over a night out with friends. It can be hard making time for friends and family — and easy to tell ourselves they’ll still be there tomorrow — but there’s a cost to neglecting our personal connections. New research is revealing just how important those ties are, and why nurturing them is an investment not only in our relationships, but in our own health and well-being. On this episode, we explore the science of human connection, from why it matters to how we can make it a priority in our lives.
