Early voting centers open across Southern California ahead of Nov. 3 election
POLITICSHundreds of voting centers across Southern California are opening to give voters the opportunity to cast their ballots early ahead of the November 3 election. Saturday, October 24, 2026 3:55AMLOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Hundreds of voting centers across Southern California are opening to give voters the opportunity to cast their ballots early ahead of the November 3 election. Mail-in voting has already begun, and election officials are encouraging voters to return their ballots before Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3. In Los Angeles County, more than 100 vote centers are scheduled to open, with hundreds more opening the following weekend. One of those locations is at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in East Los Angeles. Los Angeles County Registrar Dean Logan encouraged voters to take advantage of early voting opportunities. "We have 123 vote centers that are opening tomorrow, that are opening this weekend. The next weekend we'll open another 500 plus vote centers that will be open through Election Day. So the real message right now is to encourage voters to get out there, take advantage of this early voting period and get your ballot in," Logan said.

Brewers withstand Rays’ comeback attempt to win Game 1 of World Series
MILWAUKEE — Trevor Megill struck out Jonny DeLuca with runners on second and third to wiggle out of a ninth-inning jam as the Brewers escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Rays in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night. DeLuca’s strikeout came after Tampa Bay’s Liam Hicks had hit into an apparent game-ending double play that was overturned after a replay review. The review determined that Brewers shortstop Cooper Pratt’s right foot was slightly off the bag when he caught a throw from second baseman Brice Turang. Jacob Misiorowski allowed one run over five innings to earn the win. Christian Yelich hit an RBI triple to spark a two-run rally in the first inning that put the Brewers ahead for good and delighted a sellout crowd reveling in Milwaukee’s first World Series game since 1982. Jackson Chourio and William Contreras provided two hits each, and Contreras also threw out two potential base stealers. This marks the first World Series featuring two potential first-time champions since 1980, when the Phillies beat the Royals in six games. The only other major league teams without a World Series title are the Rockies, Padres, and Mariners.

Popular restaurant on Upper East Side closing after four decades
FOOD & DRINKSaturday, October 24, 2026 3:43AMStream New York's #1 news - AccuWeather - original content 24/7UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A popular restaurant on Manhattan's Upper East Side is preparing to serve its final meal after more than four decades in business. "I'm going to miss the fact that they always know what we're going to order," customer Jonathan Steinman said. The Owner of Mezzaluna, Aldo Bozzi, said quality has been the focus since he opened the restaurant 42 years ago. "There was some mediocre olive oil around — you know the one that you find in the basic super market? So I imported my olive oil," Bozzi said. The olive oil came straight from Tuscany, helping bring authenticity to Mezzaluna and contributing to its long-running success. "My daughter is inside with her friends. They used to come here when they were in high school. We have three generations of customers," Bozzi said. Despite the restaurant's success, rising business costs in New York City have made operating more challenging. Those costs, along with a costly renovation ahead, led Bozzi to decide against renewing his lease for another 10 years. Top StoriesMezzaluna is scheduled to close Nov. 1.
