With more than 250 km (~155 miles) of battery-only range, genuine off-road capability, and a range extending ICE motor that pushes total range well past 1,000 km (~620 miles), VinFast’s new VF Wild is shaping up to be an interesting entry in the electrified truck race.
First shown as an all-electric concept back in 2024, the production version of the new VF Wild pickup is still motivated by an electric motor putting out 160 kW (~215 hp) and 280 Nm (~205 lb-ft.) of torque drawing power from a relatively modest 46.4 kWh LFP battery pack (compared to the monster 205 kWh battery in GM’s electric trucks, anyway). That setup is good enough to get VF Wild drivers about 250 km away (NEDC) from where they started before the ICE generator kicks in to keep the party going.

VinFast plans US electric buses – and it’ll handle more than the ride
VinFast wants to put electric buses on US streets, and its pitch goes beyond the vehicles: charging, maintenance, and operations bundled into one package. Deliveries of buses approved for US use are expected to begin in Q1 2028. The Vietnamese EV maker announced the plan at the APTA TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago. It signed an initial agreement with NexMove, a joint venture between passenger transportation company Transportation Management Services and commercial EV charging provider Zeem Solutions.

Automakers are betting on a different kind of electric car. Meet the EREV. - Business Insider
The big new "it" engine is an EREV. Will it outperform the PHEV? The next popular EV might come with a gas engine. Several car brands, including Hyundai, Genesis, Ram, Jeep, Ford, and Volkswagen-backed Scout Motors, have announced plans to build extended-range electric vehicles, or EREVs, by the end of 2028. It's a growing industry bet. After years of lower-than-expected EV adoption, and as gas prices remain elevated, auto executives believe buyers want the experience of electric driving without having to depend on America's charging infrastructure for every long trip. "EREVs are really the next generation of this stepping stone powertrain," Robby DeGraff, the manager of product and consumer insights at AutoPacific, told Business Insider. "These vehicles make a lot of sense for a lot of Americans. "So… what the heck is an EREV?

Nigel first entered the world of automotive journalism in the mid-80s, working for what was then the “bible” of weekly automotive content - Motoring News. Those were the days of tip-tap typewriters, landline telephones and proper news cycles. Social media was yet to become a modern-day plague and people waited for their automotive news until Tuesday mornings. Nigel has remained a gearhead since the early days in London. He's enjoyed a variety of roles in marketing, PR and events with such storied brands as Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini. He has spent much of adult life in the United States, but currently resides in (a much colder) United Kingdom.
