Activision recently released ports of 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops and 2012's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on PlayStation, and they were massive hits. According to a report, the games combined to sell more than 11 million copies on PS4 and PS5. Developer Gavin Goslin, who worked on these games at Treyarch, has reflected on the massive success of these ports and why it feels "bittersweet." Posting on LinkedIn , Goslin said it's amazing to see these games continue to perform well in 2026. It's also a bit sad because the "suits" at Activision are raking in all the money, not the original developers, he said. "I poured my life into those games, spending countless, brutal hours in crunch alongside an incredibly talented team to make sure they were perfect. Seeing our blood, sweat, and tears still dominating the charts in 2026 is amazing, but it's hard to watch the suits rake in giant financial windfalls from our old code while the actual creators don't see a dime of it," he said ( via VGC ). Xbox Manager Tries To Legitimize AI In Wild Rant, Deletes His Account Instead

Brandon Stirrup wants you to know that he’s done pretending. The senior business strategy manager at Microsoft went on a posting spree to assert that use of AI at Xbox is widespread and that he no longer cares who knows it, even if it costs him his job. “I’m happy to take the hit if it means hundreds at Xbox can stop pretending that they’re not using AI,” he posted on his X account. “It’s time to accept and move forward.” Seems like he took some kind of hit because his several-post-long screed extolling the inevitability of genAI in game development has been deleted along with his account. According to sources speaking to PC Gamer, Stirrup deleted his account due to the amount of replies he was getting. Thankfully, his thread had been screenshotted and is making the rounds on X and Bluesky. “Gaming is the only industry pretending not to use AI,” he wrote, though gaming is hardly pretending, which you can see if you look at the lion’s share of demos coming out during the current Steam Next Fest or those in the recent past.
