Sophie Wilde Thinks Digger Will Teach People About Humanity And Hope - Refinery29

Photographed by Joe Maher/Getty Images. Director Alejandro González Iñárritu tackles wealth inequality, environmental harm, power, and corruption in his new film Digger. It's a satirical look at Texan oil tycoon Digger Rockwell, played by a grumpy, old-looking Tom Cruise. It's a caricature of what we imagine really happens behind closed doors, and as outlandish and ridiculous as it sometimes seems, it's also believable. Because greed corrupts and can drive humans to become rotten to the core. I won't spoil the film for you, as there's a twist that you should experience for yourself, but it will keep you entertained. It's likely to be a polarising film, but love it or hate it, Iñárritu will have you thinking. With questions around AI use and how we're slowly (or rapidly?) killing the planet, you might walk out of the cinema feeling a bit rattled. When I sat down to chat to star Sophie Wilde, she opened up about what she wants people to take away from Digger, whether she's afraid of AI, and more. Refinery29 Australia: Do you hope that billionaires watch the film, and if so, what would you want them to take away?

Sophia Stel: the greatest album of all time Album Review - Pitchfork

Last year, Stel scored a TikTok hit off her first EP, Object Permanence, with “I’ll Take It,” trying on her best Ella Yelich-O’Connor atop some Boy Harsher rave stabs. On the greatest album of all time, her voice is less affected yet further out of reach, persistently clouded by AutoTune and sometimes submerged under the beats, so only her sibilants break the surface. It’s like hearing her through an exceptional high, and the way Stel plays with scale and setting will feel familiar to anyone who’s ever K-holed or greened out: You’ll blink and find you’ve changed locations without consciously moving a muscle. The syrupy “Wedding Song” sends a piano line sauntering down the aisle, then Stel dips into a slurred, singsongy cadence, there’s a trap drop, and it’s like riding shotgun while she raps along to Barter 6 and takes hits off her vape. A puff of smoke drifts over to the following track and becomes the plume of a fog machine as “Now I’ve Got a Lot You Know” warps into a post-hyperpop jock jam.the greatest album of all time operates on an expansive, unstratified taste profile, one in which Carrie & Lowell and 2 SLIZZY 2 SEXY hold equal clout.

'Billions' Star Asia Kate Dillon Says Acting Jobs Have 'Diminished' - Variety

Asia Kate Dillon, who starred in shows like “Orange Is the New Black” and “Billions,” took to social media on Tuesday to share that they are looking for service work after their acting work “has all but diminished” after eleven years in the industry. Dillon began their statement by going through previous service jobs they’ve held, from dishwasher to floor manager to food runner. “When I was fifteen, I got my first job in food service,” they wrote, and stayed in the industry until they were able to support themselves full-time as an actor.

Dancing With The Stars Sidesteps Its Own Controversy On Emotional Dedication Night - TVLine

There was an 800-pound gorilla in the "Dancing With the Stars" ballroom on Tuesday night, and the show opted to ignore it entirely. Just a few days ago, pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy was given a one-week suspension from Season 35 after a social media post — in which he took issue with judge Carrie Ann Inaba's critique of his wife Jenna Johnson's Week 5 routine — was deemed "inappropriate" by those who run the show. But if you knew nothing about the controversy surrounding Val, Jenna, and Carrie Ann, then you were likely pretty darn confused during Tuesday's episode, which offered viewers absolutely no context for what had gone down behind the scenes. Alan Bersten, who was already eliminated from this season, stepped in as Val's replacement for Week 6, and co-host Alfonso Ribeiro only offered that "Val is not with us this week. " (Alan and Jenna Dewan's performance similarly came and went without any explanation about Val's whereabouts.)

5 Zodiac Signs With The Best Horoscopes On Thursday When Venus Conjuncts The Sun - YourTango

On October 21, 2026, the best horoscopes go to five lucky zodiac signs. Venus and the Sun meet at critical degrees (but in different signs), and this interaction is intense. Venus in Scorpio is in its fall, so it acts controlling and pretty difficult, to be honest. Libra is an enemy to the Sun. Harmony? Nah. The ego can be awfully big right now. But even though it's hard to see clearly, these astrological signs come out on top.1. Cancer Design: YourTangoCancer, you try to get along with everyone, and when stress rises, you work magic. On October 21, sadly, Venus in its fall creates problems in your home and family sector. Nothing breaks your heart more than when relatives don't get along. The Sun doesn't feel helpful today either, since it's creating havoc in your love life as it connects with Venus right now. The good news is that you're much stronger than anything you face. You're wagging your pointer finger and saying nah-ah. No drama on my watch. You like that problems surface because, if they didn't, you wouldn't know what they are. Your sweet, intuitive side of you kicks in, and you start problem-solving.

Ali G is back. But is the character past its sell-by date? - BBC

Site search4 hours agoGyasi B-HibbertGetty ImagesAli G's appearance at the Wimbledon men's final on Centre Court went viral in July"This is the biggest gathering of cultural appropriators in history," Sacha Baron Cohen tells the camera in his parody of a street accent. Behind him, hundreds of fans cram onto a London Underground escalator, all wearing Ali G's trademark yellow shell suit and skullcap. Baron Cohen shouts the character's catchphrases through a megaphone, with the crowd enthusiastically finishing each one. Earlier this month, more than 300 fans attended an official Ali G lookalike competition, ferried around London on an open-top bus that stopped at landmarks including Big Ben, Leicester Square and Covent Garden. The stunt was promotion for an upcoming sequel to 2002 film Ali G Indahouse - called Ali G: Who iz I? - which hits cinemas on Friday. But not everyone is excited about the return of Baron Cohen's comedy character.
