Tesla’s Cybertruck sales still unimpressive despite cheaper model

Tesla delivered just 8,295 “Other Models” in Q3 2026, down 48% from a year ago and the lowest total for the category since 2021. With the Model S and Model X out of production, almost all of them were Cybertrucks. That gives us the cleanest look yet at Cybertruck sales. We estimate Tesla delivered 7,000 to 8,000 of the trucks last quarter, a pace of about 30,000 a year from a line it planned for 250,000.

Cybertruck sales in free fall as Tesla reports mediocre sales for Q3

Tesla sold 486,532 electric vehicles during the third quarter of 2026. But Tesla stock is up this morning; the year-over-year numbers might look bad, but the company still exceeded analysts’ expectations of 456,600 cars, which would have been a larger 8 percent year-on-year decline

Those were the days of tip-tap typewriters, landline telephones and proper news cycles. Social media was yet to become a modern-day plague and people waited for their automotive news until Tuesday mornings. Nigel has remained a gearhead since the early days in London. He's enjoyed a variety of roles in marketing, PR and events with such storied brands as Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini. He has spent much of adult life in the United States, but currently resides in (a much colder) United Kingdom.

Following the discontinuation of the EV credit and the industry-wide purge that followed, the BMW i4 closed out 2025 with lots full of old stock gathering dust and bleeding value on dealer lots. BMW may not be in desperation mode anymore, but you can still lease these cars for cheap.
