Authorities on Thursday identified a 31-year-old man who was killed in a fire at his Stoughton home this week. Gerald Green was rushed to a local hospital after a fire broke out at 1399 Central St. on Wednesday night, officials said. Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey’s office said Green later died from his injuries. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Gerald Green. We extend our deepest sympathies for their loss,” Morrissey said in a statement. The manner and cause of Green’s death will be determined by the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the statement said. The fire was reported about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday after someone called 911 but then hung up, officials said. The home was ablaze when emergency responders arrived. Firefighters went into the home and were working to put out the blaze when they found an unresponsive man, later identified as Green, according to officials. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The fire remains under investigation by State Police detectives assigned to Morrissey’s office, the State Fire Marshal’s office, and the Stoughton police and fire departments.

SchoolThe Texas Comptroller's office is refusing to release records showing how families are spending taxpayer-funded school voucher dollars, ABC13's partners at the Houston Chronicle reported on Thursday. Thursday, October 22, 2026 10:43PMHOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Texas Comptroller's office is refusing to release records showing how families are spending taxpayer-funded school voucher dollars, ABC13's partners at the Houston Chronicle reported on Thursday. School vouchers are taxpayer dollars families can use to help pay for private school. The billion-dollar program lets families use the money to pay tuition, buy school supplies, and get educational therapies. The Houston Chronicle reported that its reporters have repeatedly been denied documents and information on how families who receive the money spend it. The controller's office, led by Don Huffines, has repeatedly said people deserve to know how their money is spent but claims it is withholding the information to protect student privacy, according to the Chronicle. However, other states with similar voucher programs turn this information over to the public.

Can the depleted Patriots keep up with Caleb Williams and the Bears? Follow live updates.
Whenever the Patriots blow into town, the Windy City has treated them well. New England’s last loss in Chicago came in 2000, prior to the organization’s six Super Bowl titles or either one of Thursday’s starting quarterback being born. Will that streak of four consecutive wins be extended on Thursday night? The Patriots (4-2) enter with an injury list resembling a CVS receipt. Offensive guards Alijah Vera-Tucker and Ben Brown will both miss Thursday’s game, as will cornerbacks Carlton Davis III, Karon Prunty, and Channing Canada. Vera-Tucker was placed on injured reserve Thursday. Romeo Doubs joined fellow receiver Mack Hollins on the injured reserve this week. Doubs sustained a shoulder injury on a 42-yard touchdown catch in Sunday’s win over the Jets. The Bears (4-2) cruise into Thursday’s matchup coming off a 31-23 victory against the Falcons. Quarterback Caleb Williams returned from a three-game absence and showed no rust, finishing 30 of 36 passing for 305 yards and a touchdown. Can the depleted Patriots slow down Williams and a potent Bears’ rushing attack? The game kicks off at 8:15 p.m. and can be watched on Amazon Prime and WCVB Channel 5.
