After a blue wave, here’s what Democrats should do
Nevertheless, with gas well over $4 a gallon and the president’s approval rating at an astonishing 30 percent in one new poll, change appears likely. Democrats need a playbook. A euphoric party will face immediate challenges. There will be calls from the base for action, accountability, and even impeachment. Frustrated voters who gave Democrats another chance will want to see pocketbook issues improve. Yet Democrats will almost certainly lack the votes to override President Trump’s vetoes of bills seeking to end the Iran war and roll back tariffs, two of the main drivers of the inflation and growing economic pessimism that have placed the GOP in this dire position. Democrats have run against the price of gas, but won’t have the power to ease pain at the pump themselves. If Democrats aren’t careful, voters might wheel on them next. One thing is certain: Impeachment is not the answer. Many members of Trump’s inner circle, notably Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and FBI director Kash Patel, could warrant removal. But any focus on impeachment misreads why the electorate has turned on the president and squanders enormous time and resources.

‘The Invite’: A Collapsing Marriage Opens the Door to Temptation in Olivia Wilde’s Keen Foursome - Entertainment Voice
Here is another exploration of the unhappy American middle class couple. In literature and cinema, this tortured coupling used to represent the anxieties of our society. Olivia Wilde’s “The Invite” has few new insights into the perils of being a wedded white citizen of the republic, touching on those classic themes of jealousy, infidelity, dashed dreams, and what happens when you meet people more sexually wild than yourselves. Yet, like with crime films, it is the presence of these elements that keeps this film entertaining. For Wilde, it is a welcome return to a personal kind of filmmaking, clearly stamped with experiences, or at least arguments, the director has surely witnessed or partaken in. “The Invite” is also Wilde’s first U. S. remake of a foreign release. The original, “Sentimental,” is a Spanish film directed by Cesc Gay, which was re-titled “The People Upstairs” for English-language markets. Wilde is shooting a screenplay by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones that keeps most of the original premise. It begins with a fight inside a nice apartment.
