A pair of Brockton brothers were sentenced to four months in prison Monday for stealing nearly $200,000 from a credit union where one of them worked, federal prosecutors said. Jenel Flounoury, 30, and Justin Flounoury, 34, were also each sentenced to three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a joint restitution of $197,146, according to the office of Leah B. Foley, US Attorney for Massachusetts. The two pleaded guilty in July to one count of conspiracy to commit larceny from a credit union in federal court in Boston, prosecutors said in a statement. According to Foley’s office, Jenel and Justin Flounoury conspired to stage a robbery of Energy Credit Union in West Roxbury, where Jenel worked as a teller. On Sept. 24, 2024, Justin left his job in South Boston early and was driven to the credit union, the statement said. Wearing a hat, sunglasses, mask and dark clothing, Justin went to the teller window where Jenel was working and handed him a note that read “Hand it Over,” officials said.

Man accused of posing as attorney at Harris County crash scene faces rare charge
Criminal JusticeWatch Eyewitness News and ABC13 originals around the clockTuesday, October 20, 2026 2:51AMHARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man accused of posing as an attorney and offering legal assistance to a driver involved in a crash along the North Beltway is facing a rarely filed criminal charge. According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office, Pedro Cura, 53, showed up at the scene of a two-vehicle collision near the North Freeway over the weekend, despite not being involved in the crash or being a licensed attorney. Deputies say Cura was wearing a green vest displaying his phone number. His vehicle had the same information. According to court records, Cura photographed the damaged vehicles and offered to help one of the drivers with their case. During Cura's first court appearance, a magistrate expressed concern about the allegations, particularly because the people involved in the crash were in a vulnerable position. "There's a real danger in this type of behavior because you're talking to people who have just been in an accident and in a vulnerable state," the magistrate said.

Residents fight for anti-camping zone at 6th Street Bridge park
By Alejandra MolinaThe LA Local Oct. 19, 2026 7:23 PM PT Boyle Heights and Arts District residents are joining forces to push for enforcement of an anti-camping zone at the park beneath the 6th Street Bridge, which is expected to open next year. Members of the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council recently voted 13 to 1 to sign on as supporters after Arts District residents spearheaded a petition calling for the city to implement such a zone for the sidewalks and perimeter around the future park. With this vote, the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council is joining the Arts District Little Tokyo Neighborhood Council and the downtown Los Angeles Residents Assn. in urging Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, Mayor Karen Bass and city staff to move forward with the designation and to coordinate a security plan for the park. The move comes after residents on both sides of the Los Angeles River have raised concerns for months about the possibility of homeless encampments forming at the park. Anti-camping zones — established through Los Angeles Municipal Code 41.18 — bar people from sitting, lying or sleeping in certain public spaces.
