Mepolizumab Reduces Systemic Corticosteroid Exposure in Eosinophilic COPD - HCPLive

In pooled phase 3 data, mepolizumab lowered mean yearly systemic corticosteroid exposure by 178.97 mg in patients with a BEC of ≥150 cells/µL. Mepolizumab (Nucala) reduced total yearly systemic corticosteroid (SCS) exposure, particularly high-dose courses, in patients with COPD and type 2 inflammation receiving inhaled triple therapy, according to pooled phase 3 data presented at the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) 2026 Annual Meeting in Phoenix.¹,²Although treatment guidelines recommend SCS for COPD exacerbations, these agents are associated with complications in this population, prompting interest in targeted therapies capable of limiting their use.¹ Mepolizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-5 (IL-5), is approved for patients with COPD and an eosinophilic phenotype.

Lab-designed molecule reduces amyloid beta, the protein linked to Alzheimer's disease, in mice - Medical Xpress

A research team led by the Molecular and Cellular Neurobiotechnology group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), in collaboration with Míriam Royo's laboratory at the Institute for Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC), the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), has identified a synthetic peptide that reduces the production of amyloid beta (Aβ).

Patient-Owned Health Data Model Reduces Clinical Trial Recruitment Redundancy - The Clinical Trial Vanguard

The same patient, identified and re-consented for the third or fourth time across separate studies, is not an edge case. It is how clinical research is currently structured, and the inefficiency is measurable: every redundant records request, re-registration, and repeat consent conversation adds cost to the sponsor and time to a patient already managing a demanding diagnosis. The case building around patient-owned health data argues that the architecture itself is the problem, not the execution. The traditional model treats each protocol as a discrete relationship. A trial opens, participants are found, data flows inward, and the relationship ends. But sponsors rarely stop needing evidence from the same populations once a study closes. Observational work, real-world outcomes, label extensions, and post-market commitments all draw on the same patient groups, rebuilt from scratch each time. What the patient-owned model proposes instead is a single consented relationship that persists across those activities, turning what was an episodic research interaction into ongoing infrastructure.

On the Role of Belief in Science - Avi Loeb – Medium

Throughout his leadership from Brooklyn, New York City, the Rebbe spoke intensely about the imminent arrival of the messianic era, urging his followers to prepare for it through acts of goodness and Jewish observance. During the latter decades of his life, a fervent belief arose among many of his followers that he was in fact the Jewish Messiah. Since the Messiah is believed to reconstruct the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and live in Israel, his followers built in 1986 a house for him in Kfar Chabad Israel which is an exact replica of his apartment at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The Israeli replica was constructed to precisely mirror the layout of the original, including a highly detailed reproduction of the Rebbe’s private office, complete with identical furniture, bookcases, and religious texts.
