PCSA’s Backers Lambast College Athlete Agents - Sportico.com
With the U. S. Senate passing the Protect College Sports Act on Monday and the bill’s fate in the House of Representatives unresolved, two of the PCSA’s leading backers on Tuesday underscored features of the bill that target college athlete agents. Randy Levine, vice chair of President Donald Trump’s Saving College Sports roundtable and president of the New York Yankees, and Cody Campbell, a Texas Tech booster who is a senior member of the roundtable and an oil-and-gas entrepreneur, insisted during a teleconference that the PCSA would prevent college athlete agents from taking excessive commissions and increase the likelihood that college athletes are actually paid for NIL deals.

Jimmy Kimmel Cuts Trump’s Biggest Backers With Damning Theory About MAGA Brains - HuffPost
Jimmy Kimmel said President Donald Trump’s inner circle is trying to get him to take the potential threat of AI seriously, but he’s not listening. Even after industry insiders sounded the alarm about the technology, Trump dismissed those concerns as a “hoax.” But Kimmel said he has a way to get Trump to pay attention. “Tell him ChatGPT is about to release the Trump-Epstein files,” he said. “I’ll bet a hundred bucks he’ll get Pandora stuffed right back in that box.” Those are the files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was once close friends with Trump. The president still has his die-hard supporters, even amid a cost-of-living crisis worsened by his war on Iran. Trump initially said the war would last just weeks. Seven months later, he claims Iran wants it to end. “They’re getting decimated and they want to make a deal so badly. They call, ‘We want to make a deal,’” Trump said this week. “They’re not ready yet, I don’t think. But we could have a deal anytime we want.”“Oh?” Kimmel hit back. “How about now? Now would be a good time for a deal.

Qubic restarts blockchain, opens recovery claims after $1.4M hack
Layer-1 blockchain Qubic has restarted its network and launched a recovery process after a wallet seed vulnerability allowed an attacker to drain roughly $1.4 million in QU tokens from 1,404 accounts, according to the project’s latest update. Qubic’s blockchain explorer shows the network resumed processing ticks 8:00 pm on Oct. 19, advancing beyond tick 85,371,949, where it was halted on Sunday. Qubic said its network validators, known as Computors, had approved a recovery plan and that the project had launched a claims platform for affected wallet holders. Affected users can check their address and submit a claim through Qubic’s reclaim platform. Affected users have until May 1, 2027, to submit claims, according to Qubic. The network was halted Sunday to prevent further movement of stolen funds after attackers exploited predictable wallet seeds generated by vulnerable wallet software. The vulnerability affected wallet seeds generated using Qubic’s web wallet on certain Apple devices and browsers, where an insecure random-number generator could produce predictable seeds. Qubic on Sunday said it had fixed the seed-generation flaw in the latest version of its web wallet.

We don’t need an independent Alberta. We need to keep AIMCo independent
Open this photo in gallery:Alberta Premier Danielle Smith previously sacked AIMCo’s board and CEO, and has also previously pushed for the province to leave the Canada Pension Plan. Jeff McIntosh/The Canadian PressIt’s too soon to breathe easy on Alberta secession. Sure, the referendum’s preliminary results show that some 75 per cent of Albertans voted to remain in Canada. But the proportion of people who signalled they favour a binding vote on separation – roughly 25 per cent – is significant. This is hardly a resounding endorsement of Canadian unity. Federalists who assume they won and dismiss the concerns of Alberta separatists are making a big, fat mistake. The fallout from this historic vote will be felt for years. Secessionist leaders have explicitly said they plan to use this meaningful denouncement of Canada as leverage to agitate for change. That brings us to the Alberta Investment Management Corp., or AIMCo, which is a sitting duck for renewed political interference in light of the referendum result. The Edmonton-based institutional investment manager is part of the “Maple 8″ group of public pension fund managers and Alberta’s Crown jewel.
