Written by Associated PressNEW DELHI (AP) — Eugenio Chacarra won the DP World India Championship by two strokes on Sunday to maintain a late-season surge that has lifted the Spanish golfer atop the Race to Dubai standings on the DP World Tour. After a third-place finish at the FedEx Open de France and then a second place at last week's Open de España presented by Madrid, Chacarra got his third win of the season by completing a 9-under 63 early Sunday and then shooting 70 to finish at 21-under par for the week at Delhi Golf Club. Chacarra jumped ahead of Patrick Reed into first place in the season-long Race to Dubai that will culminate next month and crown the DP World Tour's top player of the year. Chacarra is in better form than both the American and Rory McIlroy, the other realistic contender for the title.

Open de Espana: Patrick Reed looking to extend lead over Rory McIlroy in Race to Dubai as he makes return from injury - Sky Sports
Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed says becoming the second American to be crowned European No 1 would mean "a lot" and insists he has "no excuses" as he looks to extend his advantage over Rory McIlroy after returning from a shoulder injury. Reed will tee it up at the Open de Espana from Thursday in his first appearance since withdrawing during the second round of the flagship BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth last month. The 36-year-old - aiming to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Collin Morikawa, who won the Race to Dubai in 2021 - is around 300 points clear of McIlroy with five DP World Tour events remaining.

How does DP World Tour fit into PGA Tour's future? Rory McIlroy not high on Challenger Series - Golf Channel
Among the unanswered questions from the PGA Tour’s Tuesday eligibility announcement: How will the league’s strategic alliance with the DP World Tour factor into this impending two-tiered competitive model? Following next season’s transition period, future fields for the top level, dubbed the Championship Series, will be filled with the top 90 performers from the previous season; top 20 players from the second tier, the Challenger Series; two-time Challenger winners; the No. 1 player in PGA Tour University; three players from a new Last Chance Series; plus limited medical extensions and career milestone exemptions. What was not included were top performers from the European circuit, which entered its partnership with the PGA Tour five years ago. Currently, the top 10 players in the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai, not already eligible, receive PGA Tour membership; PGA Tour players who benefited from such include Robert MacIntyre and Min Woo Lee.
