Fare increase now in effect for NYC Ferry

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- Riding the NYC Ferry now costs more. A fare increase took effect Monday, raising the price of a one-way ticket to $5, up 50 cents from the previous fare. The cost of a 10-trip pass also increased, rising by $1 to $30. Discounted one-way fares increased by 5 cents to $1.50. The fare hike comes as the city grapples with higher operating and fuel costs. The New York City Economic Development Corporation, which oversees the ferry system, cited those rising expenses as the reason for the increase. The changes took effect immediately for riders using the city's ferry network.----------* Get Eyewitness News Delivered * More New York City news* Send us a news tip* Download the abc7NY app for breaking news alerts * Download our connected TV app Submit a tip or story idea to Eyewitness NewsHave a breaking news tip or an idea for a story we should cover?
