CHEVY CHASE, Md. (7News) — For more than a year, Andy Shea’s family watched their Honda Pilot sit in the driveway. The 2017 SUV needed an engine repair estimated at nearly $25,000, and the family did not believe it was safe to drive. The 2017 Honda Pilot had just 56,000 miles when its engine failed. After a 7News I-Team investigation and letters from two members of Congress, Honda agreed to replace it at no cost. 7News I-Team Investigative Reporter Scott Taylor was there when Andy Shea picked up the vehicle at Ourisman Honda of Bethesda, which replaced the engine. “This is a little surreal, but it’s happened,” Andy Shea said as he picked up the vehicle. Scott, you were incredible. We would not be here if it wasn’t for you. You promised you would stay with the story, and you did. Thank you, 7 News! " added Andy Shea. The engine failed after Shea’s daughter, Ellie, heard an unusual sound coming from the SUV. It had just 56,000 miles. “I just immediately knew something was wrong,” Ellie Shea said. “Obviously, as we took it to the mechanics and later the dealership, we realized the gravity of the situation.”Andy Shea contacted Honda, expecting the company to cover the repair.
