EVs outsell petrol in Australia for the first time, led by China
Electric cars outsold petrol cars in Australia for the first time in August. Battery-electric vehicles hit 27,078 sales, or 24.9% of the new-car market, ahead of both petrol (25,824) and diesel (23,608). The Tesla Model Y topped every model on sale. But look past it, and Australia’s EV record is almost entirely a Chinese one.

I Bought This Low-Mileage Jeep Grand Cherokee For Only $1,700 After Realizing My ‘Holy Grail’ Project Is Doomed
“David, can you please fix the garage?” my wife Elise asked me on Sunday. “You barely have any time to do house stuff, and today you’re free.” She’s right about the first part — The Autopian really does take up all of my time, and the garage does need to be fixed — but she wasn’t quite right about the second part. I wasn’t exactly free; I had a Jeep to look at. Convincing Elise that me looking at another Jeep somehow made sense was… a challenge. Frankly, I was unable to successfully do it before heading out the front door, and that did weigh on me a bit as I drove my BMW i3 to follow my own advice, which I dished out last week in my article “Why The ‘Early’ 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Is The Best Deal In All Of Jeeps.” I think writing that article altered my algorithm, serving me an ad for a gorgeous early-1993 Jeep ZJ for sale for just $2,300. The car looked minty fresh in the pictures aside from a bit of front-end damage and some sap on the paint.

2027 Ford Ranger Models Will Get The Raptor's Turbo V6
The 2027 Bronco reportedly won't be alone in ditching Ford's familiar twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 in favor of its more powerful 3.0-liter mill. Just days after it was announced that the Bronco Outer Banks, Badlands, Heritage, and Filson models will get a detuned version of the Raptor's engine, the Ranger is expected to follow suit. The flagship Ranger Raptor is currently the only mid-size Ford pickup with its twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6. It delivers 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, slightly shy of the Bronco Raptor's 418 hp and 440 lb-ft, but plenty of power for a vehicle like this. Ford Authority understands that the forthcoming 2027 Ranger's XLT and Lariat models will be available with the 3.0-liter and will drop the 2.7-liter as an option.

An Italian Coachbuilder Wants to Build This Alfa Romeo Roadster
Castagna Milano, a small Italian coachbuilder, is proposing a stylish convertible based on the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. The styling is drastically different, with sharp creases and fang-like LED headlights. The convertible is only a rendering for now, but Castagna Milano will build it as a one-off if a customer is willing to put up the cash. The Alfa Romeo Giulia is still among the most beautiful cars available. Despite being on the market mostly unchanged since the 2016 model year, the Italian sports sedan’s styling has aged remarkably well, its smooth curves and piercing headlights creating a timeless elegance. But Italian coachbuilder Castagna Milano thinks it can improve on the Alfa Romeo’s look, whipping up a design for a new two-door convertible based on the Giulia Quadrifoglio. Castagna MilanoThe assertively styled convertible is only a render for now, but Castagna Milano says that it wants to turn it into a one-off creation if it can find an Alfa Romeo enthusiast who is willing to pay. And while the hard edges and crisp lines are quite a departure from the typical Alfa Romeo finesse, the two-door is striking enough that we think someone will raise their hand.
