Acura Confirms 3 New SUVs, Including ‘Adventure-Ready’ and Larger 3-Row Models

On Tuesday, Acura confirmed that three new SUVs will join the U. S. market in the coming years. One of those will be an “adventure-ready” model, expected to be the first Acura built with trails in mind since the short-lived SLX of the late 1990s. Rumors of an all-new model circulated earlier this summer, and the Japanese automaker confirmed its plans in a business roadmap announced on October 13. Acura will develop three new SUVs to diversify its model lineup, including an “adventure-ready” model and a new 8-passenger SUV. A new RDX Hybrid, likely to resemble a concept shown back in May, will also join the lineup. Acura"We are making a big commitment to Acura by delivering products and services that meet the needs of our customers at all life stages, which will create a sustainable long-term direction for the brand," said Eiji Fujimura, president & CEO of American Honda. "The Acura business foundation is sharply focused on the needs of the customer, delivering new products that offer value for money on a premium level, and increasing our speed to market to ensure that our products are highly competitive and meet the latest market conditions.

Acura’s Future Includes More Models in Popular Segments

Acura is targeting a significant jump in its sales figures once it adds two key SUVs, to the lineup, a report from Automotive News details. The planned increase in sales hinges on the recently confirmed “Acura Passport” as well as the confirmed eight-passenger SUV the brand is currently developing. Both models will fill sizable gaps in Acura’s lineup, with the former finally giving the brand an off-road-focused SUV. Burgers, baseball, and big SUVs. These are the things Americans like. At the moment, Acura doesn’t cater to any of the three. The automaker is hoping to change that in the near future as it expands its lineup from four models on offer to six. While it doesn’t have any plans (that we know of) concerning burgers or baseball, the automaker has confirmed plans for a new full-size three-row SUV as well as a new off-roader. AcuraAcura confirmed the plans for both SUVs earlier this month, and now a new report from Automotive News gives more insight into the automaker’s expected trajectory. The off-roader, which the report says is being referred to internally as the “Acura Passport,” will, as the name implies, be based on the Honda Passport.
