UFC Edmonton Highlights! Malott Crushes Buckley With Insane Knee KO - MMA Mania

Photo by Ed Mulholland/Zuffa LLCDan Hiergesell is an expert voice who serves as MMAmania.com’s weekend editor, covering mixed martial arts (MMA) for more than 15 years, getting featured on programs such as Countdown to UFC and SiriusXM Fight Club, among others. Mike Malott may have punched his ticket to a top five matchup earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 17, 2026) at UFC Edmonton LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, when the Canadian contender closed the show with a nasty second-round knockout (knee and punch). Ahead of the welterweight main event, UFC Edmonton’s undercard produced an astonishing 11 total finishes in just 12 fights. It was up to Malott and Buckley to deliver one more stoppage to make Saturday’s return to Canada even more memorable. Luckily for all those watching, Malott came through with a massive performance that sent the crowd into a frenzy and tied the UFC record for most finishes in a single event (12). After a first round that was a methodical chess match, the two welterweights opened up a bit in the second. That ultimately led to an exchange that would change the night for both men.

Sports Have Made Us Insane - GQ

This is an edition of the newsletter Pulling Weeds With Chris Black, in which the columnist weighs in on hot topics in culture. Sign up here to get it in your inbox every Thursday. New York City has always been the center of the world, but in the last few weeks, the magnifying glass has been on us like never before. The lines for frozen yogurt and banana cream matcha lattes are snaking around city blocks, TikTokers are accosting people on the street to talk about confidence or rent prices, and our polarizing mayor is wearing offensively short shorts for photo ops. The weather is good, the sun is going down at 9 PM, people are drunk and sunburnt. Last week, the debate was about being a bandwagon fan for the Knicks, and the question of precisely who is allowed to root for which sports team. Some people seem to think you need documentation proving that you were born and raised in this amazing shithole to go to a packed bar and cheer on a team. That rule obviously discriminates against Midwestern transplants—the people who want to live in ugly new apartment buildings, work innocuous high-paying jobs, and walk their goldendoodle to Blank Street on Saturday morning.
