Local 114 health and safety leader Cheryl Williams receives 2026 Bud Jimmerfield Award - Unifor National
Cheryl Williams, Unifor Local 114 member, accepted the 2026 Bud Jimmerfield Award at Unifor Canadian Council in Ottawa, recognizing a decade of work making Cascade Aerospace a safer place to work. “Health and safety leadership is rarely one big moment. It is a thousand acts of persistence, and Cheryl Williams has strung together ten years of them,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “Every worker who finishes their shift and goes home whole is the measure of that work. Thank you, Cheryl, for keeping prevention of workplace injury and illness at the top of the priority list where it belongs.”The Bud Jimmerfield Award recognizes members who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to preventing workplace disease, injury and death. It is awarded annually to a Unifor member who has led by example and who works to make sure every worker goes home safe and healthy. Bud Jimmerfield spent 31 years as a machinist, exposed every day to cancer-causing metalworking fluids. At 47, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. When the compensation board denied his claim, Bud and his union fought back and won a landmark case that put toxic exposures in the national spotlight.

Sophia Stel: the greatest album of all time Album Review - Pitchfork
Last year, Stel scored a TikTok hit off her first EP, Object Permanence, with “I’ll Take It,” trying on her best Ella Yelich-O’Connor atop some Boy Harsher rave stabs. On the greatest album of all time, her voice is less affected yet further out of reach, persistently clouded by AutoTune and sometimes submerged under the beats, so only her sibilants break the surface. It’s like hearing her through an exceptional high, and the way Stel plays with scale and setting will feel familiar to anyone who’s ever K-holed or greened out: You’ll blink and find you’ve changed locations without consciously moving a muscle. The syrupy “Wedding Song” sends a piano line sauntering down the aisle, then Stel dips into a slurred, singsongy cadence, there’s a trap drop, and it’s like riding shotgun while she raps along to Barter 6 and takes hits off her vape. A puff of smoke drifts over to the following track and becomes the plume of a fog machine as “Now I’ve Got a Lot You Know” warps into a post-hyperpop jock jam.the greatest album of all time operates on an expansive, unstratified taste profile, one in which Carrie & Lowell and 2 SLIZZY 2 SEXY hold equal clout.
