Slack Unveils Work Object Embeds for Seamless In-Thread Collaboration - Small Business Trends

In an era where time is money, small business owners constantly seek ways to streamline operations and enhance productivity. Recognizing this need, Slack has unveiled its latest feature: Work Object Embeds. This innovation allows users to bring live, interactive content directly into Slack conversations, eliminating the common hassle of constantly switching tabs and losing the flow of discussion. Work Object Embeds facilitate a seamless interaction within Slack by integrating tools and platforms that businesses may already rely on. When a team member shares a link from a supported application—be it a document, data analytics tool, or presentation software—it opens as a live and interactive piece of content directly in the conversation thread. This feature aims to keep discussions centered around the task at hand, enhancing collaboration across different team functions.

Cells Block Repair System to Fuse Together - Mirage News

The fusion of two cells is a decisive event in the sexual reproduction of many organisms. In fungi, cells must not only bring their membranes together and merge them, but also locally open their protective cell wall. A study conducted at the University of Geneva (UNIGE) shows how a mechanism that prevents cells from repairing their wall at the fusion site makes this process irreversible. Published in the journal Current Biology, these findings provide new insights into how cells coordinate fusion and repair mechanisms and could ultimately open new avenues for targeting the cell wall of pathogenic fungi. Unlike animal cells, fungal cells are surrounded by a rigid cell wall. This structure protects them and allows them to withstand the internal pressure exerted by their cellular contents. When two cells fuse, notably during sexual reproduction, this wall must be locally degraded to allow the membranes of the two cells to merge. Once this step has been completed, fusion normally proceeds until a single cell is formed.

Starfield seamless planetary landings are finally nearly a thing, thanks to one modder's tireless work

For many Starfield players, the need to go through a loading screen each time you want to land on a planet - rather than seamlessly travel through the planet's atmosphere like in No Man's Sky - was a big turn-off. Now, over three years after Starfield's initial release, we're finally close to having our seamless planetary landings, all thanks to Frederik Wessberg, who's been working on a mod to enable just that.
