Popular sweetener byproduct damages DNA in human cells - Science Daily

A chemical associated with sucralose, the artificial sweetener sold as Splenda®, damaged DNA in laboratory experiments and disrupted a model of the intestinal lining. Those findings, published in 2023, raised questions about a little studied substance that researchers detected in some samples of the sweetener. But the laboratory results are not the whole story. Subsequent testing and a major European safety assessment have added important context, including challenges to the idea that the chemical necessarily forms during digestion. The original experiments did not establish that ordinary sucralose consumption damages DNA in people, and European regulators concluded in 2026 that the sweetener remains safe under its currently authorized uses.

Garmin Revamps and Opens Up Connect Developer API Program: All the Details - DC Rainmaker

After some 7 months of being ‘closed’ to new entrants, Garmin has re-opened and revamped the Garmin Connect API developer program, focused specifically on 3rd-party platforms that want to receive data files from Garmin devices via Garmin Connect, or send certain types of data to Garmin devices. All of these leverage the Garmin Connect API today, and have for many years. Before we get into the details of the new program, Garmin closed it to new applications back in March due to an overwhelming number of inbound applications. With the rise of AI-generated apps, Garmin went from a handful of (mostly legit) applications each week to a tsunami of new AI vibe-coded applications each day. Fun fact: Less than half of all applications that were requesting access even bothered to use them, once granted.
