Dixie Chopper, Maker of the World’s Fastest Lawn Mower, Is Going Out of Business

I remember when Dixie Chopper lawn mowers were the best around—or, at the very least, they were believably marketed as such. The sign at my local tire shop, which doubled as a Dixie Chopper dealer, touted them as the “World’s Fastest Lawn Mower.” Between that and the old men around me backing up the claim, I reckoned that it must be true. And now, Dixie Chopper is winding down. Alamo Group Incorporated owns Dixie Chopper, and it broke the news to the brand’s dealer network in a letter recently. Twenty-Seven Soldiers Remain in Hospital as Three Investigations Begin into Fatal CFB Wainwright Fire - VOCM

The Military gave an update last night on the tragedy at CFB Wainwright in which a fire resulted in the deaths of four soldiers. The fire occurred late Saturday afternoon local time. Twenty-seven soldiers remain in hospital – 13 in critical condition. Many “burn nurses” from Ontario are in or on the way to Wainwright to help treat the victims. Acute Care Alberta is asking reporters not to go to hospitals, and to respect the privacy of the patients and their families. As for the cause, there is no indication that the natural gas infrastructure had anything to do with the fire. The fire originated as a result of a training exercise on the anti-grenade launching range. There are three investigations talking place – two by the military and one by a civilian agency. The military now says the investigation that it is in charge of will take a long, long time.

Adrian Wyld/The Canadian PressPrime Minister Mark Carney says there is no merit to allegations from Donald Trump’s administration that Canada is interfering in U. S. elections. “I’m disappointed that their envoy sees that it’s his role to make these suggestions,” he said of U. S. ambassador Pete Hoekstra during a news conference in Istanbul on Friday. The United States embassy in Canada this week circulated what it called a “fact sheet” that accused Ottawa of trying to sway U. S. politics. American voters are preparing to cast ballots in tight midterm elections that will turn on a small number of closely fought races. U. S. embassy accuses Canadian politicians of election meddling“The Canadian government brushes off concerns about potential interference in U. S. elections, even as its ministers and premiers openly describe plans to influence American politics in official documents and public appearances,” the U. S. embassy statement alleges. Mr.
