95% of studio still on Helldivers 2, with a "small team" on the next game

Arrowhead Game Studios will only make a Helldivers 3 if it's lightyears apart in style from Helldivers 2, or if Helldivers 2's playercount falls through the floor. This is my takeaway, at least, from a recent chat with Johan Pilestedt, chief creative officer, in which Pilestedt touched briefly on the studio's next unannounced game, while assuring me that there are still no plans for a Helldiver threequel.

Despite its mixed reception, Marvel's Wolverine was September's top-selling new game in the US, making Sony launch revenues it hasn't seen since Helldivers 2

Marvel's Wolverine may not have had the best critical reception, but that clearly didn't discourage consumers. The action-adventure from Marvel's Spider-Man studio Insomniac has topped US video game sales in September, despite releasing exactly halfway through the month. That's according to market analysis firm Circana, which noted Wolverine's success includes digital sales and those made at retail. It was such a hit that, as Circana analyst Mat Piscatella wrote, the game delivered "the highest launch month dollar sales" a Sony-published game has seen since Helldivers 2, which released in February 2024. It is worth noting, however, that Helldivers 2 launched on PC alongside PlayStation 5, while Wolverine is a PS5 exclusive. Additionally, Helldivers 2 had a much lower price of $40 compared to Wolverine's $70, meaning the former sold more copies to arrive at a similar point.

Helldivers 2 swaps over to Easy anti-cheat, with developers admitting Gameguard "wasn't as effective as it could have been"

Helldivers will be switching up its anti-cheat, as developer Arrowhead Game Studios has admitted that its Gameguard cheat policy "wasn't as effective as it could have been. " In a post made to the game's Steam page (not available in the UK - get that VPN on), the team explains the decision: "The implementation of GameGuard for Helldivers 2 wasn't as effective as it could have been [...] In the end we decided to take another path with EAC. EAC is an industry standard used in over 200 games, and we believe this will be an effective way to protect the Galactic War and will better protect fair gameplay and the integrity of the game. "

Helldivers 2's GameGuard cheat policing "wasn't as effective as it could have been", cue a switch to Easy Anti-Cheat as part of a crackdown on cheat mods

"Some non-malicious cosmetic mods" may need updates as a result Helldivers 2, a game that still appears to be missing in action from Steam here in the UK, is switching anti-cheat software. Developers Arrowhead are keen to tighten up security and crack down on the use of cheat mods that can influence the bug-slaying experience of folks beyond the person who's installed them.

Yosemite National Park highlights Indigenous arrowhead crafting - Popular Science

Indigenous communities near Yosemite often traded with distant tribes to obtain obsidian. There is a simple reason why Indigenous arrowhead crafting has remained largely the same for thousands of years—if something works, it works. The earliest examples of these lethal tools date back around 74,000 years ago to Stone Age Ethiopia, but the skill is still practiced today by trained artisans around the world. Yet, the process isn’t only a matter of breaking rocks into sharp-edged projectiles.. As Yosemite National Park officials recently highlighted, there is more to this very specific technique called knapping.

Battlefield 6, One Year Later

One year ago this month, Battlefield 6 launched on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Over the last 12 months, EA’s latest entry in the long-running FPS series has received numerous free updates, modes, maps, and more. Not all of it has been good. Some of it has been great. And through it all, fans have been very vocal, talking (and sometimes yelling) about it all online as DICE and the other studios working on BF6 continue to expand and improve on 2025’s best-selling game. Even before Battlefield 6 launched, the game’s beta had people claiming the franchise was back after a few less-than-stellar previous releases. At one point, the Battlefield 6 open beta reached over 500,000 concurrent players on Steam alone. A lot of people, myself included, loved how much BF6 played and looked like BF4, one of the best games in the series. Its grounded combat, snappy gunplay, impressive destruction, and focus on performance really won a lot of people over, even some fans who had fallen out of love with Battlefield. However, there was some controversy during the beta, with a big complaint from fans being that the game’s maps were too small.
