What BC’s Parties Are Promising on Health-Care Access

Health care is usually a top election issue. But this year, old discussions are taking on new urgency. Many British Columbians do not have a family doctor, and some people spend more than five years on wait-lists to get one. Emergency rooms often require patients to wait six hours or more for help. Once patients are admitted to hospital, they can linger for days in an emergency department while waiting for a bed to open up in an acute-care ward. Meanwhile, B. C. hospitals house many elderly residents who are waiting for rooms to open up in a nearby assisted-living or long-term care home.

U.S. aviation regulator approves long-delayed 737 Max 10 for service

BNN Bloomberg is Canada’s definitive source for business news dedicated exclusively to helping Canadians invest and build their businesses. Nearly a decade after Boeing unveiled its largest 737 Max jet, the company has cleared a major hurdle in its effort to bring the plane to airlines. The Federal Aviation Administration approved the Max 10 for passenger service Tuesday, ending years of delays. The 737 Max 10’s certification represents another milestone in Boeing’s efforts to restore its reputation and financial footing after years of safety, quality and production challenges. With production approved, the aircraft can now be sold to domestic and foreign carriers. U. S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the certification followed “extensive safety reviews,” including thousands of hours of test flights, and called it a major win for American manufacturing. “To think that it took us almost 10 years to get here. We all probably had a little less gray hair 10 years ago,” Duffy said during a visit to Boeing’s manufacturing plant Tuesday in Everett, Washington.

‘I will honour this mandate’: Smith vows not to hold another referendum on separation

Trade WarUpdated: October 20, 2026 at 10:00p.m. EDTPublished: October 19, 2026 at 7:00a.m. EDTAlbertans rejected holding a second referendum to separate as voters overwhelmingly chose to stay in Canada, CTV News projects. In a historic vote that saw the oil-rich province put the question of separation to the public, roughly 75 per cent of voters thought Alberta should stay in Canada, while just under 25 per cent voted to pursue a binding referendum on leaving, according to preliminary results just after 8 a.m. MT. LIVE: Real-time data. Interactive maps. Every question. Every result. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says as long as she is premier, she will not call a second referendum on the question of separation. The premier put the matter to rest in a televised update at 6:45 p.m. MT while urging separatists to give Ottawa another chance. The remaining nine questions, focused largely on immigration and constitutional changes, are also being counted right now and some have close races. The emphatic result to remain culminates a year-long campaign from pro-Canada and separatist groups.
