Granit Xhaka transfer: Sunderland agree deal to sign former Arsenal midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen - Sky Sports

Captain Granit Xhaka will be staying at Sunderland, Sky Sports News can exclusively confirm. The Black Cats rejected an £8m bid from Chelsea for the 33-year-old midfielder last Sunday - but the Switzerland international, who was instrumental in Sunderland's impressive first season back in the Premier League will be staying in the North East. Sunderland have made it clear Xhaka was never for sale but he was initially attracted by the prospect of reuniting with Xabi Alonso, having enjoyed a successful spell under the new Chelsea boss at Bayer Leverkusen. Xhaka was open to exploring the opportunity.
