David Byrne – Resounding Artistry Again at the Hollywood Bowl - EntertainmentToday.net
If you are considering the list of American artists who have continually poked at the outer edges of the creative envelope for decades, the short list would certainly include David Byrne near the top. His show last night at the Hollywood Bowl was jaw dropping in terms of creativity and musicianship. His long-standing fascination with marching bands and choreography remains front and center. He even had the USC Marching Band do a brief introduction, which in itself contained a surprising and poignant tribute to Dolly Parton with a robust version of “9 to 5.” Byrne was almost unseen watching from the edge of the stage, undoubtedly pleased.

Fighting to Save the Pangolin, the World’s Most Wanted Animal - National Geographic
It was 4 p.m. in the forests of central Cameroon, which meant it was time to wake the pangolins. The first resident roused from slumber occupied a wooden crate positioned against the wall inside an airy clinic. The animal that emerged was as unusual as it was enchanting: around three feet long, with a low-slung body, a narrow tapering head, powerful forelimbs tipped with curved claws, a prodigious tail. A pregnant white-bellied pangolin, one of the eight recognized species, she was accustomed to this routine by now, having arrived at the Tikki Hywood Foundation’s pangolin rescue center a week earlier. She’d been rescued from a market in the nearby town of Mbalmayo; her bruised tail suggested that she’d been caught in a snare. Too vulnerable to go outside to forage for the ants and termites that constitute her natural diet, she was being sustained with maize meal mixed with supplements, and a sprinkling of soil, which helped trigger her instinct to feed and aided her digestion. The center’s Zimbabwean founder, Lisa Hywood, held out the bowl of porridge as the animal went to work with her noodle-like tongue.

Sophia Stel: the greatest album of all time Album Review - Pitchfork
Last year, Stel scored a TikTok hit off her first EP, Object Permanence, with “I’ll Take It,” trying on her best Ella Yelich-O’Connor atop some Boy Harsher rave stabs. On the greatest album of all time, her voice is less affected yet further out of reach, persistently clouded by AutoTune and sometimes submerged under the beats, so only her sibilants break the surface. It’s like hearing her through an exceptional high, and the way Stel plays with scale and setting will feel familiar to anyone who’s ever K-holed or greened out: You’ll blink and find you’ve changed locations without consciously moving a muscle. The syrupy “Wedding Song” sends a piano line sauntering down the aisle, then Stel dips into a slurred, singsongy cadence, there’s a trap drop, and it’s like riding shotgun while she raps along to Barter 6 and takes hits off her vape. A puff of smoke drifts over to the following track and becomes the plume of a fog machine as “Now I’ve Got a Lot You Know” warps into a post-hyperpop jock jam.the greatest album of all time operates on an expansive, unstratified taste profile, one in which Carrie & Lowell and 2 SLIZZY 2 SEXY hold equal clout.

'Billions' Star Asia Kate Dillon Says Acting Jobs Have 'Diminished' - Variety
Asia Kate Dillon, who starred in shows like “Orange Is the New Black” and “Billions,” took to social media on Tuesday to share that they are looking for service work after their acting work “has all but diminished” after eleven years in the industry. Dillon began their statement by going through previous service jobs they’ve held, from dishwasher to floor manager to food runner. “When I was fifteen, I got my first job in food service,” they wrote, and stayed in the industry until they were able to support themselves full-time as an actor.
