Zoom adds ‘proof of human’ badges to show you’re not a deepfake
Sam Altman-backed World has rolled out biometric verification badges for Zoom enterprise users, aiming to combat AI deepfake impersonation and fraud. Zoom enterprise customers will now be able to see “proof of human” badges to verify that people appearing on video calls are real, after a global rollout of biometric identity technology from World. On Sunday, the Sam Altman-backed project announced that World ID for Zoom is now available in the Zoom Marketplace. The system compares an image captured by the company’s iris-scanning Orb, a live selfie and the participant’s video feed before displaying a Human Badge visible to other meeting participants. World first announced its Zoom integration in April, when it was undergoing limited beta testing with VanEck Funds. The feature is now available globally to Zoom enterprise customers. World also named Bain Capital, Pantera Capital and other financial firms as initial design partners for its broader identity verification technology. The rollout follows incidents involving AI-generated impersonation. In 2024, an employee at engineering firm Arup transferred about $25 million after scammers impersonated executives during a video conference.

Robinhood sees surge in bitcoin, gold prediction markets as traders move beyond sports
)SummaryBitcoin, gold and oil price contracts are among the fastest-growing prediction market products, according to Robinhood executive JB Mackenzie. The Federal Reserve's interest rate decision was Robinhood's largest event contract in September, while crypto contracts have moved toward 15-minute settlement periods. Prediction markets are also drawing customers into Robinhood's stock, crypto and retirement products, potentially making the business one of the company's fastest-growing segments. Robinhood is seeing growing demand for prediction markets tied to bitcoin, gold and oil, as traders increasingly look beyond sports and elections to bet on moves in financial markets. Price volatility contracts tied to those assets are among the fastest-growing products in prediction markets, according to JB Mackenzie, VP and GM for futures and prediction markets at Robinhood. Sports is the largest product the platform offers, said Mackenzie at the NEXTPredict conference in New York on Thursday. However, he said there is a shift in how people use the platform.
