Corvette Clocked at 154 MPH Crashes and Burns, Police Say, But Driver Is Nowhere to Be Found
A police chase involving a Chevy Corvette, reaching speeds of more than 150 miles an hour. Tire-deflation devices. A Corvette engulfed in flames, with no driver anywhere to be found Police left scratching their heads. It sounds like a scene from a Michael Bay movie, but according to reports from CBS 6 Albany and News 10 ABC, it actually happened in Clifton Park, New York, on Monday night. The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 10:20 pm, when New York State Police troopers attempted to stop a Corvette traveling at speeds up to 154 mph on Route 9 in Saratoga County. The driver allegedly refused to pull over and instead jumped on Interstate 87 southbound, with troopers still in pursuit. Now, New York State Police have some serious horsepower at their disposal, including Ford Mustang GT patrol cars. But at 150-plus mph, keeping up becomes less about horsepower and more about keeping everyone alive. Rather than continue the high-speed pursuit, troopers reportedly radioed ahead to have tire-deflation devices deployed in the Chevy's path. Police say the tire-deflation device was successfully deployed, however, the Corvette still managed to disappear in the night.

Beluga rescued from closed Ontario park dies in California - CP24
SAN DIEGO — A California aquarium says a beluga rescued from Marineland in Ontario has died, adding to the number of deaths of animals relocated over the summer from the now-closed Canadian facility. SeaWorld San Diego says in a Facebook post that Cyprus, a nine-year-old male beluga that arrived at the park on Aug. 22 stopped eating on Friday, and an ultrasound later determined the animal’s intestinal tract did not appear to be functioning normally. It says Cyprus had been doing well since his arrival, eating consistently and interacting with his trainers and animal care team, along with two other rescued belugas. But it notes belugas can mask discomfort or underlying concerns that are not immediately visible, and it says a full necropsy will be conducted. OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney says he is “open” to amending the Canadian constitution to deal with major questions of structural change but only where there is strong “consensus” in the country. In little-noticed comments during a podcast interview with host Ryan Jespersen, the prime minister addressed how he intends to respond to Alberta’s concerns, and why he advocated for voters to reject a future binding independence referendum, along with urging them to say “no to the nine” other questions and vote against Premier Danielle Smith’s other proposals for change.
