Connor McDavid is showing no signs of slowing down amid a red-hot start to the 2026-27 season. McDavid recorded three assists in Tuesday’s 4-3 overtime win over the Minnesota Wild, bringing his total to 20 on the season. He became the fastest player in NHL history to hit the 20-assist mark, doing so in just nine games. The 29-year-old superstar bested some elite names, as the record was previously shared by Pat LaFontaine (1992-93), Mario Lemieux (1988-89) and Wayne Gretzky (1986-87), who all hit 20 assists in 10 games. McDavid posted three assists in a game for the 66th time Tuesday, moving him to sixth all-time in that category behind Gretzky (224), Lemieux (108), Paul Coffey (82), Adam Oates (71) and Sidney Crosby (67). Record watch appears set to be a theme for McDavid this season as he now owns 26 points on the campaign. His current pace projects out to 56 goals, 187 assists and 243 points over an 84-game season. McDavid has two extra games this season to top his previous career-high of 153 points set in 2022-23. His early-season pace, though, has opened the possibility of Gretzky being joined in the ultra-elite 200-point club.

Islanders' Liam Foudy: Collects three assists - CBS Sports

Foudy had three assists in AHL Hamilton's 5-2 win over Belleville on Friday. Foudy put in a good performance, helping out on all of Mitchell Chaffee's three goals in the contest. Foudy is an experienced AHL forward at this point, and he earned a career-high 47 points over 60 regular-season outings last year. The 26-year-old forward probably won't see much action in the NHL even if his offense continues to be steady for Hamilton.

Why Manchester City fans boo the Premier League and Champions League anthems - BBC

The cacophony of boos that greet the Premier League and Champions League anthems before kick-off have now become a fixture at the Etihad Stadium. The jeers from Manchester City fans were turned up a notch against Ipswich last Saturday when the side played their first home game since being found guilty of breaching the Premier League's financial rules. "I can't remember a Premier League or Champions League home game where the anthems haven't been booed," City season-ticket holder Dave Wilson told BBC Sport. The pre-match dissatisfaction towards top-flight chiefs can likely be traced back to February 2023, when the 115 charges for breaching the rules were first announced. Later that same year, Everton had 10 points - reduced to six on appeal - deducted after being found to have broken profit and sustainability rules. In their first game back after the sanction, Toffees fans displayed their ire at Goodison Park by loudly booing the league's pre-match anthem as well as holding up red cards with the word 'corrupt' printed underneath the Premier League logo. Though City supporters did not organise a similar display, their anger was clear.
