Carney will sit down with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara Wednesday, before heading to Istanbul for a series of business meetings. His office is not releasing who else he plans to meet with ahead of the trip. While Reuters reports Canada and Türkiye will sign a joint declaration aimed at deepening ties in four areas including defence and energy, senior officials repeatedly declined to say what announcements are expected, beyond that something would be announced. Officials did say the areas of trade focus include defence, energy, mining, tech and agriculture. University of Ottawa international affairs professor Thomas Juneau calls Türkiye a “competitive autocracy” – too far removed to be considered a democracy.

‘We build it like a jigsaw puzzle’: Canada’s first robotic roof truss manufacturing line opens in Huron County, Ont.

You’re looking at Canada’s first robotic roof truss manufacturing line, and it is located in Huron County, Ont. “The robotics go slower than human beings, but they’re consistent,” said the Founder and President of Atlas Engineered Products, Hadi Abassi. Two years ago, he started construction of this $20 million facility in Vanastra, Ont., to robotically manufacture roof trusses, streamlining the production process from start to finish. “And not just trusses. We have the same system, and same vision for the component construction, for the walls section and floor sections,” said Abassi. Federal government announces billions for tariff-impacted industries in Ontario

Prime Minister Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford have unveiled a nearly $9 billion in supports for the province’s tariff-hit auto and steel sectors. The commitments under the “new action plan” include $5 billion to help upgrade Ontario steel mills and $2.5 billion to help the province’s ailing auto industry pivot to electric vehicle production. There is also $1 billion to help build roads to the mineral-rich Ring of Fire region in Northern Ontario. The prime minister framed the plan as part of ongoing efforts to bolster Canada’s economy in the face of a drawn-out trade war with the United States. U. S. President Donald Trump’s trade war has dragged on for more than a year and a half, slamming key Canadian sectors, including automotive and steel manufacturing. “U. S. tariffs have upended a trade bargain that’s existed for decades. They have raised costs for American families while putting Ontario workers and businesses at a disadvantage and under a cloud of uncertainty,” Carney said during a joint news conference with Ford in Ottawa on Wednesday afternoon.
